Verstappen could equal Vettel’s consecutive win record, Leclerc could become the non-champion with the most poles and Hamilton could become the first driver to make 300 Q3 appearances. Here are the milestones and the records which could be broken at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix!
THE 2023 DUTCH GRAND PRIX MILESTONES
The 2023 Dutch Grand Prix will be the 1,092nd World Championship event in Formula 1 history.
The 2023 Dutch Grand Prix will be the 35th Dutch Grand Prix since the event was first held in 1950 and the 33rd time that the event has been held as a round of the World Championship. This will be the 33rd Formula 1 race held at Zandvoort.
Lando Norris makes his 95th start with McLaren this weekend, overtaking Fernando Alonso as the driver to have made the seventh most starts with the team.
Lewis Hamilton will overtake Rubens Barrichello as the driver to have started the third-most Formula 1 races. The 2023 Dutch Grand Prix is set to be Hamilton 323rd start.
With Sergio Perez racing, the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix is set to be the 350th race to feature a Mexican driver on the grid.
The 2023 Dutch Grand Prix will be the eighth round of the World Championship to be held on August 27. The last race held on this date was the 2017 Belgian Grand Prix. The last time the Dutch Grand Prix was held on this date was in 1978.
THE FORMULA 1 RECORDS TO BREAK
Having taken his eighth consecutive win at the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen is one win away from becoming only the second driver to win nine consecutive rounds of the World Championship. A ninth consecutive win at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix would see him equal Sebastian Vettel’s record of nine wins a row, which he secured at the end of the 2013 season.
A top three finish for Max Verstappen would see him extend the fourth longest podium streak in Formula 1 history. He has finished on the podium at the last 13 races – the longest such streak since Lewis Hamilton’s run of 16 consecutive podiums between the 2014 Italian Grand Prix and the 2015 British Grand Prix.
If he leads every lap of the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, Max Verstappen would become only the fifth driver – after Lewis Hamilton, Ayrton Senna, Sebastian Vettel and Jim Clark – to have led 12 races from start to finish during their Formula 1 career.
At the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen joined Fernando Alonso as only the second driver to have won races from nine different grid positions. Either driver could become the first to win from ten different grid positions, while Lewis Hamilton could equal the existing record.

Red Bull could set a new record for the most points by which a team has led the Constructors’ Championship. They would need to lead by 298 points after the race. The current record for the largest points lead held in the team standings was set by Mercedes, who led by 297 points after the 2016 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton has not previously won the Dutch Grand Prix. If he wins the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, Zandvoort will become the 32nd different circuit at which Hamilton has won. That would see him extend the record for most different circuits at which a driver has taken victory.
A top ten qualification for Lewis Hamilton will make him the first driver to record 300 Q3 appearances in Formula 1.
Pole position for Charles Leclerc would see him overtake Valtteri Bottas as the non-champion to have taken the most pole positions in Formula 1. The pair are currently tied on 20 poles apiece.
Having already won the Saudi Arabian and Singapore Grands Prix, one more victory for Sergio Perez in 2023 would make this the first season in which he has won three Grands Prix in a single year.
If Fernando Alonso wins any race this season, he will become the oldest driver to win a Grand Prix since Jack Brabham at the 1970 South African Grand Prix. Brabham won that race at the age of 43 years, 11 months and 5 days.
If Fernando Alonso lines up fifth on the grid, he will equal Kimi Raikkonen as the driver to have lined up fifth on the grid on the most occasions in Formula 1. Raikkonen started fifth on 39 occasions during his career.
A fifth place finish for Fernando Alonso in the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix would see him equal Jenson Button for the most fifth place finishes in Formula 1. Button finished fifth on 27 occasions during his career.
If Logan Sargeant picks up two points this weekend, the United States would become the tenth nation to have scored 1,000 points in Formula 1. American drivers have been stuck on 998 points since the 1993 Italian Grand Prix, when Michael Andretti scored the last points of his career with a podium finish for McLaren.
A top ten finish for Nico Hulkenberg would make this the 100th race weekend at which he has scored points. That includes the 2023 Austrian Grand Prix, at which he only scored points in the Sprint.
An eighth place finish for Nico Hulkenberg would see him equal Jenson Button and Carlos Sainz as the driver with the most eighth place finishes in Formula 1. Button recorded his 20th and final eighth place finish at the 2016 German Grand Prix, while Sainz equalled Button’s record at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix.
A Q3 appearance for Nico Hulkenberg would see him become the 14th driver to record 100 Q3 appearances since the knockout qualifying system was introduced in 2006.
If he completes the first 16 laps of the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, Nico Hulkenberg will become the 19th driver to have raced 10,000 Grand Prix laps in Formula 1.
2023 DUTCH GRAND PRIX: RECORDS TO BREAK
Victory for Max Verstappen would make him only the third driver – after Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart and Niki Lauda – to have taken three victories at the Dutch Grand Prix.
A win for Max Verstappen would see him equal the record for the longest winning streak at Zandvoort. It would be his third win in a row at the track, equalling Jim Clark’s record of three successive wins in 1963, 1964 and 1965.
If Max Verstappen or Sergio Perez win the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, Red Bull will equal Lotus’ record of three consecutive wins at Zandvoort.
If two British drivers finish on the podium at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, Britain will become the first nation to record 30 podium finishes at Zandvoort.
If Max Verstappen leads 28 laps of the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, he will become the sixth driver to have led 150 laps at the Zandvoort circuit. Should he lead 59 laps of the race, he’ll become the driver to have led the second-most laps at the venue, behind only Jim Clark.
Should Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz lead 31 laps of the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix between them, Ferrari will overtake Lotus as the team to have led the most laps at the Dutch Grand Prix. Lotus led 615 laps here in total, compared to Ferrari’s 585.
2023 DUTCH GRAND PRIX: QUALIFYING RECORDS
Pole position for Max Verstappen would see him equal Rene Arnoux as the driver to have taken the most pole positions at the Dutch Grand Prix. Verstappen has taken pole in each of the last two Zandvoort races.
If Max Verstappen seals pole position for the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, he would become the first driver to have taken three consecutive poles at Zandvoort.
If a Ferrari driver takes pole at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, the Scuderia would equal Lotus as the team to have taken pole position on the most occasions at the Dutch Grand Prix.
Ferrari are currently tied with Ford Cosworth as the most successful engine manufacturer in qualifying at the Dutch Grand Prix. A pole for a Ferrari-powered car would see Ferrari set a new outright record.
Should Pierre Gasly or Esteban Ocon take pole position at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, France will equal Britain as the nation with the most poles at Zandvoort. Britain could extend the existing record to seven.
Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton will be hoping to maintain their 100% Q3 appearance record at the Dutch Grand Prix.
No driver has recorded multiple Q2 exits at the Dutch Grand Prix. Nine drivers have the opportunity to become the first to do so this weekend.
Sebastian Vettel currently holds the record for most Q1 exits at Zandvoort, with two. Sergio Perez, Valtteri Bottas or Kevin Magnussen could equal that number at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix.
HAMILTON SEARCHES FOR FIRST VICTORY SINCE 2021
Victory for Lewis Hamilton would see car number 44 equal car number 2 as the car number to have taken the third most wins in Formula 1.
A victory for Lewis Hamilton at any race in 2023 would see him move into the top 20 of the oldest drivers to win a Grand Prix in Formula 1. He would overtake Damon Hill as the third-oldest British driver to have won a Grand Prix.
If Lewis Hamilton wins any race this year, he’ll overtake Kimi Raikkonen as the driver to have had the longest gap between his first and last Grand Prix victories. He’d also be the first driver to have won after the 300th race of his career. Fernando Alonso would break the record if he were to take victory.
A victory for Lewis Hamilton would make him the first driver to have won in 16 different Formula 1 seasons. 2022 is the only season during his career in which Hamilton has not taken a victory.
WILL MERCEDES BE BACK IN THE FIGHT?
A victory for Mercedes would make 2023 the 12th consecutive season in which the team has won a race. They would be only the third team to win in 12 consecutive seasons, after Ferrari (1994-2013) and McLaren (1981-1993).
Victory for a Mercedes-powered car would see them become only the third engine manufacturer to have won in 17 consecutive Formula 1 seasons. The only other manufacturers to have done so are Ferrari (20 seasons, between 1994-2013) and Ford Cosworth (17 seasons, between 1967-1983).
If three Mercedes-powered cars finish on the podium, Mercedes will equal Renault’s record tally of seventeen podium lockouts for an engine manufacturer.
