As Britain equals Germany as the nation to have hosted the second-most F1 races, Hamilton could set a new record for the most wins at a single circuit, while McLaren search for their first streak of eight podium finishes in over 12 years. Here are the milestones and the records which could be broken at the 2024 British Grand Prix!
THE 2024 BRITISH GRAND PRIX MILESTONES
The 2024 British Grand Prix will be the 1,113th World Championship event in Formula 1 history.
This will be the 79th time that Formula 1 has raced in Great Britain. That sees the United Kingdom equal Germany as the nation which has hosted the second-most World Championship events.
The 2024 British Grand Prix will be the 59th Grand Prix held at Silverstone. 58 of the previous races at the track have been British Grands Prix. The circuit also hosted the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix in 2020.
This will be the 79th British Grand Prix since the event was first held in 1926. It will be the 75th time that the race has been run as a round of the Formula 1 World Championship.
This weekend, Fernando Alonso will become the first driver to make 21 F1 appearances at Silverstone, overtaking Kimi Raikkonen for the most starts at the track.
The 2024 British Grand Prix will be the eighth time that a Formula 1 race has taken place on July 7. The last race held on this date was the 2013 German Grand Prix, while the British Grand Prix was last held on this date in 2002.

A top three finish for Lewis Hamilton would be his 150th top three finish with Mercedes. He would become the first driver to have recorded 150 podium results with a single team.

A top three finish for Max Verstappen at the 2024 British Grand Prix would mark his 107th podium result in F1. That would put him fourth in the all-time podium list, overtaking Alain Prost and Fernando Alonso.
If Max Verstappen leads every lap of the race, he will overtake Jim Clark for fourth in the list of most races led from start to end. It would be the 14th time he has done so in his career.
A runner-up finish for Max Verstappen would see him record his 30th second place finish in Formula 1. He would move ahead of both Rubens Barrichello and Valtteri Bottas to seventh on the list of most runner-up finishes in F1.
If Max Verstappen does not take pole position but does win the Grand Prix, he would become the fourth driver – after Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton and Alain Prost – to have won 30 Grands Prix without starting from the front of the grid.
THE FORMULA 1 RECORDS WHICH COULD BE BROKEN
A different team has been on pole position at all of the last four races. If a team other than Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren or Red Bull takes pole for the 2024 British Grand Prix, it would be the first time that five different teams have taken pole position at five consecutive races since the five races between the 2005 Monaco and French Grands Prix, at which McLaren, Williams, BAR, Toyota and Renault all secured a pole position.
A podium finish for either Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri at the 2024 British Grand Prix would make this the eighth consecutive Grand Prix in which McLaren have finished on the podium. It would be the first time the team has finished on the podium at as many as eight races in a row since they finished in the top three at all 13 races between the 2011 German Grand Prix and the 2012 Chinese Grand Prix.
Lando Norris has been voted Driver of the Day at all of the last three races. If he wins the vote again at the 2024 British Grand Prix, it would mark the first time in the history of the award that a driver has been voted Driver of the Day at four consecutive races.
A victory for George Russell at the 2024 British Grand Prix would make him the first British driver other than Lewis Hamilton to win consecutive races since Jenson Button in 2009.
If Lewis Hamilton or Lando Norris win the 2024 British Grand Prix, it would be the first time that two different British drivers have won consecutive races since the 2012 United States and Brazilian Grands Prix, which were won by Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button. The last time two consecutive races were won by different British drivers without one of those drivers being Lewis Hamilton was at the 1999 European and Malaysian Grands Prix, which were won by Johnny Herbert and Eddie Irvine.
If Ferrari score 37 points over the 2024 British Grand Prix weekend, they would become the first team to have scored 10,000 points in Formula 1.
If Red Bull score a point at the 2024 British Grand Prix, it will be the team’s 55th consecutive points-scoring race, equalling the fifth longest scoring streak for a team in Formula 1 history.
A Fastest Lap for Ferrari would be their 19th Fastest Lap at Silverstone. That would see them equal their own record for the most Fastest Laps at a single circuit. Ferrari have taken 19 Fastest Laps at Monza.
A Fastest Lap for a Ferrari-powered car would see them equal their own record for the most Fastest Laps at a single circuit for an engine manufacturer. Ferrari-powered cars have set the Fastest Lap 19 times to date at Monza and 18 times so far at Silverstone.
At the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen joined Fernando Alonso as only the second driver to have won races from nine different grid positions. Either driver could become the first to win from ten different grid positions, while Lewis Hamilton could equal the existing record.
A 1-2 finish for Mercedes would make them the second team, after Ferrari, to record 60 1-2 finishes in Formula 1. Ferrari reached the milestone at the 2002 United States Grand Prix.
A points finish for Logan Sargeant would make the United States the 12th country to score 1,000 points in World Championship history.
If Charles Leclerc takes pole position and fails to win, it would be the 20th time that he has done so in his Formula 1 career. That would see him overtake Nelson Piquet for fifth in the list of most failed pole to win conversions.
A pole position for Charles Leclerc would mark the 50th pole position for car number 16 in Formula 1.
A top three finish for Charles Leclerc would be his 36th podium finish with Ferrari. That would see him equal Felipe Massa for sixth on the list of most podium finishes with the team in Formula 1.
THE BRITISH GRAND PRIX RECORDS TO BREAK
Victory for a team other than Mercedes, Ferrari or Red Bull at the 2024 British Grand Prix would equal the record for the most consecutive different team wins at Silverstone. There have been four different teams winning four successive races at the track twice previously – between 1967 & 1973 and between 2006 & 2009.
Nigel Mansell and Lewis Hamilton share the record for most Fastest Laps at Silverstone, with six each. A Fastest Lap for Hamilton at the 2024 British Grand Prix would see him set a new outright record.
If he leads 24 laps of the race, Lewis Hamilton will overtake Jim Clark as the driver to have led the most laps of the British Grand Prix during the event’s history on the F1 calendar. Clark led 365 laps of the event when it was held at Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Aintree. Hamilton has led 342 laps to date at Silverstone.
If Lewis Hamilton completes 43 laps of the 2024 British Grand Prix, he will become the fourth driver – after Rubens Barrichello, Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso – to have raced 1,000 Grand Prix laps at Silverstone.
A top three finish for either Charles Leclerc or Carlos Sainz would make Ferrari the first team to record 60 podium finishes at the British Grand Prix.
If two British drivers finish on the 2024 British Grand Prix podium, Britain would become the first nation to record 50 podium finishes at Silverstone.
A second place finish for Fernando Alonso, Valtteri Bottas or Lewis Hamilton would make them the first driver to have finished as runner-up at Silverstone on four occasions.
If Lewis Hamilton or Fernando Alonso finish the 2024 British Grand Prix, they will become the driver(s) with the most finishes at Silverstone. They’re currently tied with Kimi Raikkonen on 18 finishes at the track.
A first lap retirement for Carlos Sainz, Max Verstappen, George Russell, Zhou Guanyu or Alex Albon would see them become only the second driver, after Jackie Oliver, to record multiple first lap DNFs at Silverstone.
2024 BRITISH GRAND PRIX: QUALIFYING RECORDS
Ferrari currently hold the record for most pole positions at Silverstone, with 12. Their record could be equalled at the 2024 British Grand Prix by Williams, who have had 11 pole positions to date at the track.
Ferrari-powered cars have taken 16 British Grand Prix poles since 1950. A pole position for a Mercedes-powered car at the 2024 British Grand Prix would see Mercedes equal Ferrari as the engine manufacturer with the most poles at the event.
Lewis Hamilton is currently tied with Michael Schumacher for the most top ten qualifications at Silverstone. At the 2024 British Grand Prix, Hamilton could become the first driver to qualify in the top ten at Silverstone on as many as 18 occasions.
Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will be hoping to remain in a group of six drivers who’ve never failed to reach Q3 at Silverstone.
A Q1 exit for Kevin Magnussen would see him set a new record for most Q1 eliminations at Silverstone. He’s currently tied with former team-mate Jenson Button on six Q1 exits at the track.
LONGEVITY RECORDS FOR HAMILTON AND ALONSO
A victory for Lewis Hamilton at any race in 2024 would see him overtake Michael Schumacher as the driver to have won at least one race in the most Formula 1 seasons. Both Schumacher and Hamilton have won races in 15 different Formula 1 seasons.
A win for Fernando Alonso at any Grand Prix in 2024 would make him the oldest driver to win a Grand Prix since Jack Brabham at the 1970 South African Grand Prix.
A podium finish for Fernando Alonso would see him overtake Alain Prost as the driver to have taken the fourth-most podiums in Formula 1 history.
A podium finish for Fernando Alonso would make him the third driver – after Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton – to record podium finishes in 15 different Formula 1 seasons.
If Fernando Alonso leads a lap of any race in 2024, he would become the first driver to have led Formula 1 races over a period longer than 20 years. Alonso first led a Grand Prix in Malaysia in 2003. He most recently led at the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, just a week short of the 20th anniversary of him leading a lap for the first time in Formula 1.
Pole position at any race for Fernando Alonso in 2024 would make him the oldest polesitter since Jack Brabham at the 1970 Spanish Grand Prix.
