Verstappen looks for a fourth consecutive home win, Hamilton looks to add Zandvoort to the list of tracks at which he has won and Red Bull could lose the title lead for the first time in over two years. Here are the milestones and the records which could be broken at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix!
THE 2024 DUTCH GRAND PRIX MILESTONES
The 2024 Dutch Grand Prix will be the 1,116th World Championship event in Formula 1 history.
The 2024 Dutch Grand Prix will be the 36th Dutch Grand Prix since the event was first held in 1950 and the 34th time that the event has been held as a round of the World Championship. This will be the 34th Formula 1 race held at Zandvoort.
Max Verstappen makes his 200th Grand Prix start at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix. He becomes the 23rd driver to have started 200 races, moving ahead of Alain Prost in the all-time list.
Zhou Guanyu will make his 59th start in car number 25 at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix. That sees him overtake Timo Glock for the most starts in car 24.
The 2024 Dutch Grand Prix will be the 1,100th race which a British driver has started. In World Championship history, there have been only 16 races which British drivers did not start.
The 2024 Dutch Grand Prix will be the fifth Formula 1 race to take place on August 25. The last race to do so was the 2013 Belgian Grand Prix. The Dutch Grand Prix was last held on this date in 1985.
THE FORMULA 1 RECORDS WHICH COULD BE BROKEN
The polesitter has not won any of the last six races. Should the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix polesitter fail to win, this would be the first time that as many as seven consecutive races have not been won by the polesitter since the 12 races between the 1999 Belgian Grand Prix and the 2000 Monaco Grand Prix – none of which were won from pole.
If Max Verstappen wins the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix from pole position, he would equal the record for the most consecutive wins from pole position at a single circuit. There have been only three occasions on which a driver has won from pole position for four successive races at a track. Ayrton Senna did so at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps from 1988 to 1991, Michael Schumacher did so at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from 2001 to 2004 and Verstappen did so himself at Yas Marina Circuit from 2020 to 2023.
A win for Max Verstappen at the Dutch Grand Prix would make this only the 12th occasion on which a driver has taken four successive wins at a single circuit in Formula 1.
If Max Verstappen wins the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix, he would become the third different home winner this season, after Charles Leclerc at the Monaco Grand Prix and Lewis Hamilton at the British Grand Prix. It would make 2024 the first season since 2006 to feature three different home race winners in a year.
Zandvoort is one of three circuits on this year’s F1 calendar – along with Miami International Autodrome and Las Vegas Strip Circuit – at which Lewis Hamilton has never previously won. A victory for Hamilton at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix would see Hamilton extend the record for most circuits at which a driver has won to 32.
The Dutch Grand Prix is one of three on this year’s calendar – along with the Miami and Las Vegas Grands Prix – at which Lewis Hamilton has never previously taken pole position. A pole at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix would see Hamilton extend the record for most circuits at which a driver has taken pole to 33.
A podium finish for Charles Leclerc would mark his 37th podium result with Ferrari – overtaking Felipe Massa as the driver who has taken the sixth-most top three finishes with the team.
All of the last three races have featured at least four different drivers leading a lap. It’s only the fourth time in history that so many drivers have led at that many consecutive races. Should four or more drivers lead a lap of the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix, it would be only the second time that four races in a row have had as many as four different leaders – and it would be the first time it has happened since the opening rounds of the 2013 season.
It is mathematically possible for Red Bull to lose the lead of the Constructors’ Championship at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix. Should they do so, it would become the first race after which they have not led the Constructors’ Championship since the 2022 Miami Grand Prix.
A 1-2 finish for McLaren would mark the 50th 1-2 result in the team’s history. They would be only the third team – after Ferrari and Mercedes – to record 50 1-2 finishes.
If Max Verstappen leads every lap of the race, he will overtake Jim Clark for fourth in the list of most races led from start to end. It would be the 14th time he has done so in his career.
If Max Verstappen does not take pole position but does win the Grand Prix, he would become the fourth driver – after Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton and Alain Prost – to have won 30 Grands Prix without starting from the front of the grid.
At the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen joined Fernando Alonso as only the second driver to have won races from nine different grid positions. Either driver could become the first to win from ten different grid positions, while Lewis Hamilton could equal the existing record.
A 1-2 finish for Mercedes would make them the second team, after Ferrari, to record 60 1-2 finishes in Formula 1. Ferrari reached the milestone at the 2002 United States Grand Prix.
A points finish for Logan Sargeant would make the United States the 12th country to score 1,000 points in World Championship history.
If Charles Leclerc takes pole position and fails to win, it would be the 20th time that he has done so in his Formula 1 career. That would see him overtake Nelson Piquet for fifth in the list of most failed pole to win conversions.
If Nico Hulkenberg scores more than 22 points this weekend, Germany will become the second nation – after Britain – to have scored 8,000 points in Formula 1.
Four different teams have started from pole position in the last four races. Should a team other than Red Bull, Mercedes, McLaren or Ferrari take pole at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix, this would be the first time that five different teams have started from pole at five consecutive races since the five races between the 2005 Monaco and French Grands Prix.
If both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell reach Q3 at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix, the Brackley-based team will reach 600 Q3 appearances (across their Honda, Brawn GP and Mercedes guises) since the knockout qualifying system was introduced in 2006.
THE DUTCH GRAND PRIX RECORDS TO BREAK
Having won all three races at Zandvoort since the Dutch Grand Prix re-joined the calendar in 2021, Max Verstappen has three victories at the circuit. Another win this weekend would see Verstappen equal Jim Clark’s record of four Dutch Grand Prix wins – a record which Clark has held outright since 1965.
A win for Max Verstappen at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix would see him set a new outright record for most consecutive wins at Zandvoort. He currently shares the record with Jim Clark, who took three consecutive Dutch Grand Prix wins in 1963, 1964 and 1965.
If Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz lead 31 laps of the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix between them, Ferrari will overtake Lotus’ record tally of 615 laps led at Zandvoort.
No driver has finished as runner-up on more than two occasions at Zandvoort. Lewis Hamilton, George Russell or Fernando Alonso could become the latest driver to do so at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix, while Valtteri Bottas, Charles Leclerc or Pierre Gasly could become the fourth driver to finish third on multiple occasions at the track.
Carlos Sainz, Estaban Ocon, Fernando Alonso, Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri and Sergio Perez will be looking to maintain their 100% points scoring rates at Zandvoort.
If two British drivers finish on the podium at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix, Britain would become the first nation to record 30 top three finishes at Zandvoort.
2024 DUTCH GRAND PRIX: QUALIFYING RECORDS
Max Verstappen currently shares the record for most pole positions at Zandvoort with Rene Arnoux. Another pole at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix would be a record-breaking fourth for Verstappen.
Pole position for Max Verstappen at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix would see him extend the record for most consecutive poles at Zandvoort to four.
A front row start for Max Verstappen at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix would put him level with Graham Hill and Rene Arnoux on four front row starts at Zandvoort; the most of any driver at the track.
A pole for either Red Bull driver would see Red Bull equal Renault’s record for most consecutive team poles at Zandvoort. Renault took pole here in every race between 1979 and 1982, while Red Bull have taken pole at every Dutch Grand Prix since the event’s return in 2021.
Ferrari could equal Lotus’ record of eight Dutch Grand Prix pole positions if they take pole for the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix.
A front row lock-out for any team at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix would mark the first front row lock-out at Zandvoort since Renault achieved the feat in 1982.
Ferrari are currently tied with Ford Cosworth as the most successful engine manufacturer in qualifying for the Dutch Grand Prix, each with seven poles. A pole for a Ferrari-powered car at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix would see the Italian manufacturer set a new record.
Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz, Oscar Piastri and Logan Sargeant will be hoping to maintain their 100% Q3 appearance rates at the Dutch Grand Prix, while Verstappen, Leclerc and Sainz will be hoping to become the first drivers to make four Q3 appearances at Zandvoort.
Valtteri Bottas or Kevin Magnussen could set a new outright record of three Q1 exits at the Dutch Grand Prix, while Esteban Ocon, Zhou Guanyu, Sergio Perez or Daniel Ricciardo could equal the record for most Q1 exits here which is currently shared between Bottas, Magnussen and Sebastian Vettel.
LONGEVITY RECORDS FOR ALONSO?
A win for Fernando Alonso at any Grand Prix in 2024 would make him the oldest driver to win a Grand Prix since Jack Brabham at the 1970 South African Grand Prix.
A podium finish for Fernando Alonso would see him overtake Alain Prost as the driver to have taken the fourth-most podiums in Formula 1 history.

If Fernando Alonso leads a lap of any race in 2024, he would become the first driver to have led Formula 1 races over a period longer than 20 years. Alonso first led a Grand Prix in Malaysia in 2003. He most recently led at the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, just a week short of the 20th anniversary of him leading a lap for the first time in Formula 1.
Pole position at any race for Fernando Alonso in 2024 would make him the oldest polesitter since Jack Brabham at the 1970 Spanish Grand Prix.
