As Alonso reaches 400 F1 appearances, Norris could qualify in the top ten for the 100th time and Ferrari could reach 16,000 laps led. Here are the milestones and the records which could be broken at the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix!
THE 2024 MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX MILESTONES
The 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix will be the 1,121st World Championship event in Formula 1 history.
This will be the 25th Mexican Grand Prix* since the event was first held in 1962. This will be the 24th time that Formula 1 has raced in Mexico. It will be the 24th World Championship Grand Prix held at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez and the fourth time the race has been given the official title of ‘Mexico City Grand Prix’. *includes races staged under the Mexico City Grand Prix title.
The 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix marks the 400th race weekend which Fernando Alonso has competed in. As a result of his DNSs at the 2005 United States Grand Prix and the 2017 Russian Grand Prix, it will be his 398th start.
Pierre Gasly makes his 150th Grand Prix start at the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix.
This weekend, Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas become the first drivers to make nine appearances at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, moving clear of Pedro Rodriguez, Jack Brabham and Jo Siffert at the top of the list of most F1 appearances in Mexico.
The 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix is the fourth Formula 1 race to take place on October 27. The 2013 Indian Grand Prix is the only previous race on this date which did not take place in Mexico. The 1963 and 2019 Mexican Grands Prix were held on this day.
THE FORMULA 1 RECORDS WHICH COULD BE BROKEN
A win for Max Verstappen at the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix would make this only the 12th occasion on which a driver has taken four successive wins at a single circuit in Formula 1.

Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez is the third of four venues on the 2024 calendar at which Fernando Alonso has never previously taken a podium finish. A top three result for Alonso in the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix would make the track the 31st different circuit at which he has finished on the podium in Formula 1. That would see him surpass Kimi Raikkonen and equal Max Verstappen for second on the list of most circuits at which a driver has taken a podium finish.
If Charles Leclerc wins one more race in the 2024 season, 2024 will become the season in which he has won the most Grands Prix. Leclerc matched his record for most wins in a year at the 2024 United States Grand Prix, taking his third victory of the season. He also won three races in 2022.
A podium finish for Charles Leclerc this weekend would make car number 16 the 12th to have recorded 100 podium finishes in Formula 1. Of the 99 podiums recorded to date by car 16, Leclerc has recorded 40.
If Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz lead 61 laps of the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix between them, Ferrari will become the first team to have led 16,000 Grand Prix laps in Formula 1.
A Q3 appearance for Lando Norris will mark the 100th time that he has qualified in the top ten for a Grand Prix. He would be the 16th driver to record 100 Q3 appearances since the knockout system was introduced in 2006.
If Kevin Magnussen scores a point this weekend, it will be the 50th Grand Prix weekend at which Magnussen has scored. He would be the 53rd driver to score at 50 rounds.
Ferrari sit just six points behind Red Bull in the championship standings. If Red Bull slip to third in the Constructors’ Championship, it would be the first time that the team has been outside of the top two in the standings since the 2022 Australian Grand Prix.
If Lewis Hamilton reaches the 10th lap of the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix, he will become the second driver, after Fernando Alonso, to have raced 20,000 Grand Prix laps in his Formula 1 career.
If any British driver leads the race from start to finish, this will become the 100th Grand Prix led from start to end by a British driver.

A 1-2 finish for McLaren would mark the 50th 1-2 result in the team’s history. They would be only the third team – after Ferrari and Mercedes – to record 50 1-2 finishes.
If Max Verstappen leads every lap of the race, he will overtake Jim Clark for fourth in the list of most races led from start to end. It would be the 14th time he has done so in his career.
If Max Verstappen does not take pole position but does win the Grand Prix, he would become the fourth driver – after Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton and Alain Prost – to have won 30 Grands Prix without starting from the front of the grid.
At the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen joined Fernando Alonso as only the second driver to have won races from nine different grid positions. Either driver could become the first to win from ten different grid positions, while Lewis Hamilton could equal the existing record.
A 1-2 finish for Mercedes would make them the second team, after Ferrari, to record 60 1-2 finishes in Formula 1. Ferrari reached the milestone at the 2002 United States Grand Prix.
If Nico Hulkenberg scores more than 15 points this weekend, Germany will become the second nation – after Britain – to have scored 8,000 points in Formula 1.
A Q1 exit this weekend for Lance Stroll would see him overtake Marcus Ericsson as the driver who has recorded the second most Q1 exits in Formula 1. It would be his 71st Q1 elimination.

Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri will each be looking to maintain their 100% points-scoring rates at the Mexico City Grand Prix.
If Fernando Alonso retires from the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix, he will equal Jo Siffert and Moisés Solana as the driver with the most retirements in Mexico. He would also equal the record for the most consecutive non-finishes at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
A first lap retirement for Yuki Tsunoda or Sergio Perez would make them the first driver to record multiple first lap retirements in Mexico.

Pole position for Charles Leclerc at the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix would make him the third driver – after Jim Clark and Ayrton Senna – to record three pole positions in Mexico.
