2022 Bahrain Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo qualified only 18th for the Bahrain Grand Prix – his worst ever Bahrain Grand Prix qualifying result. The Australian finished 14th in the race, making the 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix the 175th race at which Ricciardo has crossed the finish line. That sees him move into the top ten of most races finished by a driver, usurping Nico Rosberg from tenth in the list.
2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo failed to reach the chequered flag at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, recording only his second retirement in the last 40 races.
2022 Australian Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo finished sixth at the Australian Grand Prix, scoring his first points since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo finished only 18th at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, recording his worst finishing position in a race at which he has crossed the finish line since the 2011 Brazilian Grand Prix, where he finished 20th.
2022 Miami Grand Prix
With his 215th race start, Daniel Ricciardo equalled Mark Webber as the most experienced Australian driver in F1 history. In qualifying, Ricciardo was out-qualified by team-mate Lando Norris for the ninth race in a row. This is his longest streak of being out-qualified by his team-mate since the middle of the 2018 season, when Max Verstappen out-qualified him at 11 races in a row.
2022 Spanish Grand Prix
At the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix, Daniel Ricciardo became the Australian driver to have made the most starts in Formula 1, overtaking Mark Webber’s former record. Ricciardo out-qualified his McLaren team-mate for the first time in 2022 but finished the race behind his team-mate, in 12th place. This was the third time he has failed to score in the last four Spanish Grands Prix.
2022 Monaco Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo failed to score for a second consecutive Monaco Grand Prix. 13th is his worst result at a race in Monaco in which he has reached the finish line.
2022 Azerbaijan Grand Prix
Qualifying 12th, Daniel Ricciardo equalled Carlos Sainz as the driver to have recorded the most Q2 exits in Baku. It was his fourth Q2 elimination at the track. Ricciardo finished eighth in the race, one position ahead of his team-mate. This was the first time since the Bahrain Grand Prix that Ricciardo finished ahead of his team-mate.
2022 Canadian Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo reached Q3 at the Canadian Grand Prix for an eighth consecutive visit to the track, despite recording his worst qualifying result here since 2015. Ricciardo failed to score, finishing in 11th place. This was the first time he has not picked up a point at the Canadian Grand Prix since 2015.
2022 British Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo failed to reach Q3 at Silverstone for the first time since 2017. Having suffered a mechanical problem that year, this was the first time the Australian has failed to reach Q3 at Silverstone on pace alone since 2012.
2022 Austrian Grand Prix
Qualifying in 16th place, Daniel Ricciardo was eliminated in Q1 at the Red Bull Ring for the first time. This was Ricciardo’s second Q1 exit of the season – his first since the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix. Finishing in ninth place, Ricciardo scored points for the third time this season. He last scored at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
2022 French Grand Prix
Qualifying in 11th place, Daniel Ricciardo became the first McLaren driver to qualify outside of the top ten at the French Grand Prix since 2018, when both cars were out in Q1. Ricciardo has not reached Q3 at any of the last three races. The last time he failed to reach Q3 at three events in a row was when he was at Toro Rosso, at the 2013 Korean, Japanese and Indian Grands Prix.
Ricciardo finished in ninth place for a second consecutive race. This was the first time he has scored at two races in a row since the 2021 Italian and Russian Grands Prix.
2022 Hungarian Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo reached Q3 at the Hungarian Grand Prix for the first time since 2017. His Q3 appearance ended a streak of three races at which he failed to reach Q3. That ends his longest Q3-less streak in almost ten years.
2022 Belgian Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo failed to reach Q3 at the Belgian Grand Prix for the first time since driving with Toro Rosso in 2013. Ricciardo finished 15th for a second race in succession.
2022 Dutch Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo recorded his, and McLaren’s, third Q1 elimination of the 2022 season at the Dutch Grand Prix. He finished the race in 17th, his worst race result since finishing 18th at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
2022 Italian Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo was the final driver to retire from the Italian Grand Prix. This marked his first DNF since the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. As a result of Ricciardo’s stoppage, the 2022 Italian Grand Prix became the tenth Formula 1 race to finish under Safety Car conditions. This was the third year in a row that the driver who won the previous year’s Italian Grand Prix retired from the event one year after their win.
2022 Singapore Grand Prix
Despite recording his first Q1 exit at the Singapore Grand Prix since 2011, Daniel Ricciardo recorded his best race result of the season to date with fifth place. It was his first top five finish since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Ricciardo gained 11 places over the course of the Singapore Grand Prix. It’s the most positions he has gained in a single race since making up 12 places at the 2018 Russian Grand Prix. Ricciardo’s fifth place marks the best ever result for the driver starting 16th on the grid at the Singapore Grand Prix. The grid position had scored only once previously, with a tenth place finish for Felipe Nasr in 2015.
2022 Japanese Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo finished in 11th place, recording his first finish outside of the top ten at Suzuka since 2015. Ricciardo finished sixth in the last race here in 2019 but was disqualified from the final result, as the Renault team were found to have used illegal driver aids.
2022 United States Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo recorded his third Q1 exit in the last five races. This was his first Q1 elimination at the United States Grand Prix since 2012. It also marked the first time since 2012 that Ricciardo has been out-qualified by his team-mate at Circuit of The Americas.
2022 Mexico City Grand Prix
After failing to reach Q3 in Mexico City for only the second time, Daniel Ricciardo drove from 11th to 7th and was voted Driver Of The Day for the tenth time in his career. It was the first time he’s won the vote since his drive to victory at the 2021 Italian Grand Prix. This was Ricciardo’s best result in Mexico since his 2016 podium.
2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix
The 2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix marked the 700th Grand Prix which an Australian driver started. Australia is the sixth nation to reach this milestone. Daniel Ricciardo failed to reach Q3 for the fifth consecutive race, making this his longest streak without a Q3 appearance since failing to reach Q3 for 18 races between the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix and the 2013 Malaysian Grand Prix. Ricciardo was out on Lap 1 in the Grand Prix, making this the second consecutive Interlagos race from which he retired.
2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo lined up on the grid for what could be the 232nd and final time. The Australian has started every race since the 2011 British Grand Prix, meaning the next race – the 2023 Bahrain Grand Prix – will end the second longest streak of consecutive starts for a driver in Formula 1 history.
Ricciardo reached Q3 for the first time since the Italian Grand Prix. This was the second consecutive year in which Ricciardo qualified tenth for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. He finished the race in ninth place, picking up points for the seventh time in 2022.
