RACE BY RACE: DANIEL RICCIARDO‘S 2024 F1 SEASON IN STATISTICS

2024 BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX

With Daniel Ricciardo 13th and Yuki Tsunoda 14th, this was the first time since 2015 that neither of the Red Bull junior team’s cars finished in the top 12 at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

2024 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo qualified 14th for the second race in a row at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. He lost two places in the race, finishing 16th. It was the first time he lost places from where he started since the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix.

2024 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX

For the first time in his career, Daniel Ricciardo was eliminated in Q1 in qualifying for his home Grand Prix. He had put in a lap time good enough to reach Q2, before it was deleted as a result of him exceeding track limits. Recording his team’s first Q1 exit of the year, Ricciardo recorded the Red Bull junior team’s first Q1 exit at Albert Park since 2018.

Ricciardo finished 12th in the 2024 Australian Grand Prix. This was the first time in his career that Ricciardo crossed the finish line without scoring a point – aside from his 2014 disqualification. Ricciardo made up six places during the 2024 Australian Grand Prix – the most places he has gained in a single race at Albert Park to date.

2024 JAPANESE GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo qualified in 11th place for the 2024 Japanese Grand Prix, recording his best qualifying result since qualifying in the top four at the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix. It was the second time he qualified 11th in his last two appearances at Suzuka.

Crashing out on the first lap, Ricciardo recorded the Red Bull junior team’s first DNF at Suzuka since Carlos Sainz retired – also on the opening lap – of the 2017 Japanese Grand Prix. Those are the team’s only two DNFs at the track since 2012. This marked Ricciardo’s first retirement from his 11 appearances at Suzuka. It was his first DNF since the 2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

2024 CHINESE GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo out-qualified his team-mate for the first time in 2024 at the Chinese Grand Prix. Qualifying 12th, this was the first time since his first full F1 season, in 2012, that Ricciardo failed to reach Q3 or qualify in the top seven at the Chinese Grand Prix.

The 2024 Chinese Grand Prix marked the first time in his career that Ricciardo failed to reach the chequered flag at Shanghai International Circuit. This was the first time since the 2019 Australian and Bahrain Grands Prix that Ricciardo recorded retirements at consecutive Grands Prix.

2024 MIAMI GRAND PRIX

After an impressive showing in the Sprint, in which he qualified and finished fourth and scored his team’s first-ever points at the Miami track, Daniel Ricciardo qualified in 18th place for the 2024 Miami Grand Prix. This was the Red Bull junior team’s second Q1 exit in Miami and the team’s worst qualifying result to date at Miami International Autodrome.

2024 EMILIA ROMAGNA GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo qualified ninth for the 2024 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, recording his first Q3 appearance of the 2024 season. This was the first time he qualified in the top ten since qualifying fourth at the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix. This was the first time Ricciardo qualified outside of the top six at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

2024 MONACO GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo finished 12th in the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix, equalling his best result of the season so far.

2024 CANADIAN GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo appeared in Q3 for the second time this season. Qualifying fifth for the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix, Ricciardo recorded his best qualifying result of the season to date and his first top five qualification since the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix.

Ricciardo scored his first Grand Prix points of the season with an eighth place finish in the Canadian Grand Prix. This was the sixth time in the last seven races that RB have picked up points. Ricciardo’s eighth place finish marked the first top eight result for the Red Bull junior team at the Canadian Grand Prix since Jean-Eric Vergne finished eighth in 2014.

2024 SPANISH GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo made his 200th Grand Prix start in car number 3 at the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix, becoming the fourth driver to make 200 appearances with a single car number.

Ricciardo exited in Q1 at the Spanish Grand Prix for the first time, with his previous worst qualifying result at the Catalunya track having been 15th, recorded in 2012. Ricciardo was one of only two drivers – along with Sergio Perez – to gain more than two places in the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix.

2024 AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo made his 250th Grand Prix start at the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix. He became the 11th driver to have made as many as 250 Grand Prix starts. Ricciardo missed out on a place in Q3 by just 0.015 seconds. He out-qualified Yuki Tsunoda for the second race in a row – the first time he has out-qualified his team-mate at consecutive races since the 2021 United States and Mexico City Grands Prix. Ricciardo finished ninth in the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix, scoring points for the second time this season – and for the second time in the last three Grands Prix.

2024 BRITISH GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo qualified 15th for the 2024 British Grand Prix – his worst qualifying result at Silverstone since qualifying 24th on debut at the track in 2011.

2024 HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX

Both Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo reached Q3 at the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix. This was the first time since 2018 that both of the Red Bull junior team’s drivers reached Q3 at the Hungaroring. Ricciardo finished 12th, making this his fourth consecutive point-less appearance at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

2024 BELGIAN GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo was eliminated in Q2, failing to reach Q3 at the Belgian Grand Prix for the third year in a row. Ricciardo out-qualified his team-mate for the second race in a row. It was the first time he out-qualified a team-mate at consecutive races since the 2021 United States and Mexico City Grands Prix.

Ricciardo’s tenth place finish made this the fourth consecutive race in which the RB team scored a point. It also made 2024 the eighth consecutive season in which the Red Bull junior team picked up a point at the Belgian Grand Prix. This was the first time Ricciardo scored a point at the Belgian Grand Prix since finishing fourth in 2021.

2024 DUTCH GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo qualified 16th for the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix, recording his first Q1 exit since the Spanish Grand Prix.

2024 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX

With Yuki Tsunoda 12th and Daniel Ricciardo 16th, this was the first time since 2018 that the Red Bull junior team did not reach Q3 with either car at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. In the race – with Ricciardo finishing 13th and Tsunoda retiring – this was the first time since 2019 that the Red Bull junior team failed to score a point at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

2024 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX

On his final Formula 1 appearance, Daniel Ricciardo picked up the fastest lap at the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix. This was the 17th fastest lap of his career – his first since the 2021 Italian Grand Prix. 2024 marked the third time that Ricciardo set the fastest lap at the Singapore Grand Prix. He equalled Lewis Hamilton for the most fastest laps at the event. Ricciardo was voted Driver of the Day for the 11th time in his career. It was the first time he won the accolade since the 2022 Mexico City Grand Prix.
