A STATISTIC FROM EVERY GRAND PRIX

2021 BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX

On his eleventh appearance in Bahrain, and on his first F1 appearance with McLaren, Daniel Ricciardo maintained his record of never being out-qualified by his team-mate at the circuit. Ricciardo qualified in sixth place; McLaren’s best qualifying result in Bahrain since both drivers qualified in the top four in 2012.

2021 EMILIA ROMAGNA GRAND PRIX

Recording the same qualifying result as at the first race of the season, Daniel Ricciardo’s sixth place for McLaren was the team’s best qualifying result at Imola since Kimi Raikkonen’s pole position at the 2005 San Marino Grand Prix.

2021 PORTUGUESE GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo was the surprise elimination in Q1 at the Portuguese Grand Prix, recording McLaren’s first Q1 exit since the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix. It was Ricciardo’s first Q1 exit since the 2019 Japanese Grand Prix. He went on to finish in ninth place, becoming the first driver to score having started sixteenth on the grid since Romain Grosjean at the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix. Grosjean also finished ninth in that race.

2021 SPANISH GRAND PRIX

After out-qualifying his team-mate for the third time in four races at McLaren, Daniel Ricciardo finished in sixth place. Ricciardo scored points for a fifteenth consecutive race, equalling the second longest points-scoring streak of his Formula 1 career. It was the first time Ricciardo has scored at the Spanish Grand Prix since 2018.

2021 MONACO GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo’s twelfth place in the Monaco Grand Prix ended a fifteen-race streak of points-scoring appearances. He last failed to score at the 2020 Spanish Grand Prix. It was one of the 24 longest points-scoring streaks in F1 history, equalling his second-longest streak. 2021 is the first season in which Ricciardo has failed to score at the Monaco Grand Prix since 2013.

2021 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX

After crashing out in Q2, Daniel Ricciardo qualified thirteenth. It marked his worst qualifying result at Baku City Circuit and his second consecutive Q2 exit at the circuit. The Australian finished the race in ninth place, marking the first time he has finished a race in Azerbaijan since his victory in 2017.

2021 FRENCH GRAND PRIX

Finishing in sixth place, Daniel Ricciardo equalled his best McLaren result so far. The Australian became the first driver to score from tenth on the grid at Circuit Paul Ricard since Keke Rosberg at the 1982 French Grand Prix.

2021 BRITISH GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo was out-qualified by his team-mate at Silverstone for the first time since 2018. With sixth place in the F1 Sprint, Ricciardo equalled his best qualifying result of the season so far. In the race, Ricciardo finished in fifth place – his first top five result in a McLaren car.

2021 HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo’s eleventh place finish in the Hungarian Grand Prix means that he has failed to score on three of his last six appearances at the Hungaroring. The Australian was eliminated in Q2 – making this the fourth season in succession that he has failed to qualify in the top ten in Budapest.

2021 BELGIAN GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo recorded his best qualifying result and best race result of the 2021 season so far with fourth place. This was the second consecutive season in which Ricciardo has finished fourth at the Belgian Grand Prix. Ricciardo’s fourth place is McLaren’s best result at Spa since Jenson Button’s victory at the 2012 Belgian Grand Prix.

2021 DUTCH GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo failed to score at the Dutch Grand Prix, recording his second eleventh place finish in the last three races. 2021 ITALIAN GRAND PRIX

He equals Clay Regazzoni as the driver with the thirteenth longest gap between wins; a gap of 3 years, 3 months and 16 days. Ricciardo is the 39th different driver to win the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Monza’s third new winner in the last three years and the first Australian driver to win in the event’s 100 year history.

2021 SAO PAULO GRAND PRIX

On the day that Daniel Ricciardo surpassed Nico Rosberg as the driver to have started the second-most consecutive Grands Prix (207), Ricciardo failed to finish for the first time since last year’s Styrian Grand Prix – ending the second-longest finishing streak in Formula 1 history (34).

2021 QATAR GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo failed to reach Q3 for a second consecutive race. He last failed to reach Q3 at two races in a row at the Styrian and Austrian Grands Prix. 2021 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX

Daniel Ricciardo failed to qualify in the top ten for the third race in a row. It’s the first time he’s failed to qualify in the top ten at three races in a row since the 2013 Korean, Japanese and Indian Grands Prix. Ricciardo went on to finish fifth, recording his first points finish since the United States Grand Prix. He’s now scored at six of the last twelve races – each one of those occasions being a top five finish. While team-mate Lando Norris has scored ten times in the same timeframe, only two of those finishes have been in the top five.

2021 ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX
