?? Lewis Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton and his Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas are the only drivers on the 2018 grid to have taken two podium finishes in Mexico. Hamilton won the Mexican Grand Prix in 2016, and finished as the runner-up in the previous season. Last year, Hamilton finished ninth after contact on the first lap with title rival Sebastian Vettel gave him a puncture. Hamilton could finish no higher than ninth in the race, but it was enough to see him crowned World Champion for a fourth time. This weekend, he could become the first driver to win the title twice at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Hamilton has qualified on pole once in Mexico, in 2016, and has never started lower than third on the grid. He has a 100% Q3 appearance rate and 100% points scoring record at the circuit. Hamilton hasn’t been beaten by a team-mate in qualifying here since 2015. He’s yet to gain a position from his starting place at the Mexican Grand Prix.
?? Valtteri Bottas
Valtteri Bottas has never failed to score points at the Mexican Grand Prix on all three visits. While he scored podiums here in 2015 and 2017, with a best of runner-up last season, Bottas finished eighth in 2016. The Finn is yet to qualify in the top three here, qualifying in a best of fourth on the grid last season. 2017 was the first time he was beaten by a team-mate on a Saturday at the circuit. Bottas is yet to lose a position from his starting place during a Grand Prix at the track.
?? Sebastian Vettel
It’s fair to say that the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez is a bit of a bogey track for Sebastian Vettel. In 2015, a puncture on the first lap following contact with Daniel Ricciardo left him way down the field, he then spun later in the race at Turn 7 before crashing out at the same turn some laps later. 2016 is memorable for his expletive-laden radio rant after Max Verstappen overtook him off circuit. He stood on the podium, but was later demoted to fourth due to moving under braking when defending from Ricciardo. Last season, after qualifying on pole, Vettel made contact with Lewis Hamilton on the first lap and had to pit. He fought back to fourth to record his best finish so far in Mexico. Vettel has a 100% Q3 appearance rate at the circuit.
?? Kimi Raikkonen
Kimi Raikkonen’s coming together with fellow Finn Valtteri Bottas in 2015 marks his only DNF so far at the Mexican Grand Prix. Since then he’s had two points-scoring races at the track, with sixth place in 2016 and a podium finish last year. 2017 was the first time the Finn has qualified in the top five at the track. He’s been eliminated in Q2 once here, in 2015, and has beaten his team-mate in Qualifying at the track once too, in 2016.
?? Daniel Ricciardo
Daniel Ricciardo has had one podium finish in Mexico, though he never got to stand on the podium itself. That happened back in 2016. He finished fifth on the road, but went home with the third place trophy after penalties for his team-mate and Sebastian Vettel. Last season, the Australian recorded his first DNF at the track. Ricciardo has a 100% Q3 appearance rate in Mexico, but has never beaten his team-mate in a qualifying session here. So far, his best qualifying at the track is fourth on the grid, in 2016.
?? Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen is the latest driver to win the Mexican Grand Prix. He’s never failed to score at the circuit on all three visits, and has never failed to reach Q3. He made it to the cool down room ahead of the podium celebrations in 2016 before being penalised and demoted to fourth place. Verstappen has never been beaten by a team-mate in qualifying at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
?? Sergio Perez
Sergio Perez is one of only four drivers on the current grid to have scored on every visit to the Mexican Grand Prix. The home favourite recorded his best result so far on home turf last year with seventh place. He’s reached Q3 on two occasions here, but hasn’t beaten a team-mate on a Saturday since 2015. The Mexican has never lost a position from where he started in a race at the track.
?? Esteban Ocon
Esteban Ocon took the joint-best finish of his F1 career so far with fifth place at last year’s Mexican Grand Prix. After qualifying sixth and out-qualifying a team-mate at the track for the first time last season, Ocon gained a position during a Mexican Grand Prix for the first time. Ocon has one Q1 exit from his time with Manor in 2016, and reached Q3 last season with Force India.
?? Lance Stroll
On his only Mexican Grand Prix appearance so far, last season Lance Stroll finished in sixth place; the second-best result so far in his career. The Canadian qualified in twelfth, exiting in Q2 having failed to beat his team-mate.
?? Sergey Sirotkin
Sergey Sirotkin has no past experience at the Mexican Grand Prix track.
?? Nico Hulkenberg
Nico Hulkenberg had scored back-to-back seventh place finishes in Mexico in 2015 and 2016, before recording his first DNF at the track last season. Hulkenberg has a 100% Q3 appearance rate at the circuit, and has beaten his team-mate in qualifying in each of the last two seasons.
?? Carlos Sainz
Like his team-mate, Carlos Sainz recorded his first retirement at the Mexican Grand Prix last season. Sainz is yet to score a point here, with a best finish of thirteenth in 2015. The Spaniard has never gained a position from his starting place in Mexico City. He’s reached Q3 in both of the last two seasons, and has beaten his team-mate on a Saturday here just once, in 2016.
?? Pierre Gasly
On his first appearance at the Mexican Grand Prix last season, Pierre Gasly was beaten by his team-mate in qualifying, exiting in Q1. Starting from last, the Frenchman gained seven places during the race to finish thirteenth.
?? Brendon Hartley
Brendon Hartley failed to finish the Mexican Grand Prix on his first visit to the track last season. He out-qualified his team-mate, reaching Q2 for the first time in his career. Hartley qualified in thirteenth, but was demoted to seventeenth following engine penalties.
?? Romain Grosjean
Romain Grosjean hasn’t scored in Mexico since driving for Lotus in 2015. 2015 was also the only time so far where the Frenchman has beaten his team-mate in Qualifying. He’s yet to reach Q3 in Mexico, having been eliminated in Q1 for the past two seasons. Grosjean is yet to lose a position from his starting place at the track.
?? Kevin Magnussen
Last season, Kevin Magnussen scored points for the first time on his second appearance in Mexico City, finishing in eighth place. In the previous season, Magnussen finished seventeenth. The Dane has never been beaten by a team-mate in qualifying at the track. He’s lined up in fourteenth on the grid in each of the past two seasons, though qualified down in eighteenth last year.
?? Fernando Alonso
Fernando Alonso has only ever scored one point in Mexico. That came last season, when he finished in tenth place. The Spaniard has also recorded a retirement here, back in 2015. Alonso is yet to reach Q3 in Mexico, having reached Q2 in each of the last two seasons. He’s never been beaten by a team-mate in qualifying at the track.
?? Stoffel Vandoorne
On his first visit to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez last season, Stoffel Vandoorne finished in twelfth position. He qualified in fifteenth, but was demoted to nineteenth on the grid. Exiting in Q2, he made up seven places over the course of the race.
?? Marcus Ericsson
Marcus Ericsson has never scored in Mexico, but came close in both 2015 and 2016, finishing in twelfth and eleventh respectively. He recorded his first DNF at the track last season. Ericsson’s qualifying performances have got one position worse with each passing year in Mexico, qualifying fourteenth in 2015, fifteenth in 2016 and sixteenth in 2017. Despite his worst qualifying performance so far here last season, he actually took his best grid slot so far at the track as grid penalties for others meant he started from twelfth. The Swede has gained positions in both of the two races he’s finished here, and has never been out-qualified by a team-mate.

Charles Leclerc has never raced at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez before.
