Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull have shared the last 14 Monaco Grand Prix victories. Here’s everything you need to know about each team’s history in Monaco!
RED BULL
WINS: 7, POLES: 6, PODIUMS: 15 | 2024 MONACO GRAND PRIX RESULT: VERSTAPPEN 6th, PEREZ DNF
Red Bull have won the Monaco Grand Prix seven times, with their three most recent victories coming in three consecutive races at the track in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Aside from wins for Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez in the last four years, Red Bull also took victories at the Monaco Grand Prix in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2018. Daniel Ricciardo took his final victory with the team here in 2018, and the team’s tally of victories in Monaco could have been one more if not for a botched pit-stop for the Australian in 2016.
Red Bull have taken 15 podium finishes in Monte Carlo, including top three finishes in all but two of the last eight races. Verstappen would have finished on the podium in 2019, if not for a five second time penalty.
With Verstappen finishing sixth and Perez out on Lap 1 in 2024, it was the first time since 2007 that neither Red Bull driver finished in the top five at the Monaco Grand Prix. The team’s first appearance, in 2005 when they recorded a double DNF, is the only other Monaco race in which neither driver has finished in the top five positions.
David Coulthard took Red Bull’s very first podium finish in F1 at the circuit in 2006, memorably wearing a superhero cape on the podium. 2022 marked the first time both Red Bull drivers finished on the Monaco Grand Prix podium since 2013.
Aside from their double DNF in 2005, 2007 is the only other occasion on which Red Bull have failed to pick up points on a visit to Monaco. In 2023, Perez became the first Red Bull driver to finish the Monaco Grand Prix but in a position outside of the points since Coulthard finished 14th in 2007. Perez’s 2024 DNF was the team’s first in Monaco since 2016.
Red Bull have taken five pole positions at the Monaco Grand Prix, but have never locked-out the front row. Max Verstappen became the team’s fourth Monaco polesitter in 2023. Daniel Ricciardo took pole at the Monaco Grand Prix in 2016 and 2018, while the team’s other two poles at the track came courtesy of Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
Since 2008, there have been just four occasions on which a Red Bull driver has failed to reach Q3 in Monaco. Max Verstappen failed to set a competitive time in qualifying twice due to crashes – in Q1 in 2016 and in Free Practice 3 in 2018 – while Sergio Perez crashed out in Q1 in 2023 and was eliminated in Q1 again in 2024.
2024 was the first time since 2008 that neither Red Bull driver qualified in the top five for the Monaco Grand Prix.
MERCEDES
WINS: 5, POLES: 5, PODIUMS: 10 | 2024 MONACO GRAND PRIX RESULT: RUSSELL 5th, HAMILTON 7th
Mercedes won the Monaco Grand Prix for four consecutive years between 2013 and 2016, and won for a fifth time in 2019 with Lewis Hamilton taking victory. 2019 marked the first time since 2015 that both Mercedes drivers finished on the podium at the event. They have not recorded a top three finish here since but did record a double top five result in 2023.
Between 2013 and 2019, no Mercedes driver finished below seventh in Monaco. However, in 2021 the team’s best result was seventh for Lewis Hamilton while Valtteri Bottas retired after a botched pit stop.
Other than Bottas’ 2019 retirement, the team has recorded only two other non-finishes at the track since their return to the sport in 2010 – both for Michael Schumacher, in 2011 and 2012.
Mercedes took pole position in 1955, on their only visit to Monaco during their first stint in Formula 1. Since then, the team have taken five further poles at the track, including three consecutive front row lock-outs in 2013, 2014 and 2015. They also locked-out the front row in 2019.
Since Mercedes’ return to F1 in 2010, Lewis Hamilton’s Q2 exit in 2017 is the only time a Mercedes driver has failed to reach Q3 at the Monaco Grand Prix. Hamilton’s Q2 exit in 2017, his eighth place qualifying result in 2022 and George Russell’s eighth place in 2023 are the only times Mercedes have qualified outside of the top seven positions in Monaco in the modern era.
FERRARI
WINS: 10, POLES: 13, PODIUMS: 57 | 2024 MONACO GRAND PRIX RESULT: LECLERC 1st, SAINZ 3rd
Ferrari have won the Monaco Grand Prix ten times. In 2024, Charles Leclerc brought Ferrari their first win in the principality since Sebastian Vettel crossed the line first in 2017. They have double the podium finishes of any other team at the circuit. 2017 marked the team’s third 1-2 finish in Monte Carlo, the others being in 1999 and 2001. Both Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finished on the podium in 2024, with Sainz finishing in third place.
The 2023 Monaco Grand Prix was the first time since 2016 that a Ferrari driver did not finish as runner-up in Monaco – and also marked the first time since 2013 that neither Ferrari driver finished in the top four.
The team have had only ten visits to Monaco where they’ve failed to pick up points, the most recent being in 1996, when both drivers retired from the race. Leclerc has recorded the team’s only Monaco Grand Prix non-finishes in the last seven races at the track, failing to finish in 2019 and failing to start in 2021.
Ferrari have taken 13 pole positions in Monaco and have locked-out the front row on six of those occasions, including in 2022. Charles Leclerc took pole for the Scuderia at Monaco in 2021 and 2022, but failed to start the race due to gearbox issues brought about by a crash at the end of qualifying in 2021.
Since 2006, there have been only five occasions on which a Ferrari driver has failed to reach the final part of qualifying at the circuit. Felipe Massa was eliminated in Q1 twice for Ferrari here in 2006 and 2013, both times failing to set a time due to damage to his car. Fernando Alonso suffered a similar fate in 2010 following a crash in Free Practice 3 and Charles Leclerc was out in Q1 in 2019.
Michael Schumacher’s last corner blocking tactics in qualifying in 2006 means that season is the only time neither Ferrari driver has started from the top ten on the grid for the Monaco Grand Prix since the event first appeared on the F1 calendar.
McLAREN
WINS: 15, POLES: 11, PODIUMS: 28 | 2024 MONACO GRAND PRIX RESULT: PIASTRI 2nd, NORRIS 4th
McLaren hold the record for the most victories for any team at the Monaco Grand Prix. Between 1984 and 1993, McLaren won all but one Monaco Grand Prix but they have now gone 16 years without a victory at the circuit, with Lewis Hamilton’s 2008 win being their most recent here.
For the first time since 2016, McLaren picked up points in Monaco in 2019, with Carlos Sainz finishing sixth. It was the first time both of their cars reached the chequered flag since 2016 too. In 2021, Lando Norris recorded McLaren’s first Monaco podium in ten years, while Oscar Piastri recorded the team’s best Monaco result since 2008 with second place in 2024
In 2023, both McLaren drivers scored at the track for the first time since 2016. 2024 marked the team’s first double top four result in Monaco since their last 1-2 result here in 2007.
McLaren have taken pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix on 11 occasions and have locked-out the front row on four occasions. Lewis Hamilton’s 16th place in qualifying here in 2009 is the only time McLaren have recorded a Q1 elimination at the circuit.
2015 is the only time in the last 40 Monaco races that neither McLaren driver qualified in the top ten for the Grand Prix, while 2024 was the first time since 2017 that both McLaren drivers progressed to Q3 in Monaco.
Both drivers qualified in the top four for the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix. Norris recorded the team’s first front row start at the track since 2011, while Piastri’s fourth place made this McLaren’s best Monaco qualifying result since they locked-out the front row in 2007.
Strangely, both McLaren drivers failed to qualify for the 1983 Monaco Grand Prix. It is the most recent time that McLaren failed to qualify for an F1 race.
ASTON MARTIN
WINS: 0, POLES: 0, PODIUMS: 1 | 2024 MONACO GRAND PRIX RESULT: ALONSO 11th, STROLL 14th
Fernando Alonso’s second place finish for Aston Martin at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix marked the Silverstone-based team’s first podium in the principality since Sergio Perez’s third place with Force India in 2016. Those are the team’s only two podium results in Monaco.
Sebastian Vettel recorded a top five result at the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix on the team’s first appearance at the event as Aston Martin, With Lance Stroll finishing eighth, the team finished with both cars in the points for the first time since 2016.
For the first time since 2019, neither of the team’s drivers scored a point at the Monaco Grand Prix in 2024.
Force India recorded only three retirements at the Monaco Grand Prix – a double DNF in 2008, including Adrian Sutil, who was running in fourth place when he was eliminated by Kimi Raikkonen, and a first lap crash for Perez in 2014.
Lance Stroll retired from the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix, becoming only the second driver for the team to retire in the last 15 Monaco races. That’s quite different to the team’s early history at the circuit. Between 1991 and 2008, the 2003 and 2006 Monaco Grands Prix are the only ones in which both Jordan cars reached the chequered flag!
In the last 11 Monaco races, 2019 and 2024 are the only times that neither of the team’s drivers reached Q3. Fernando Alonso qualified second in 2023, recording the team’s first front row start here since 2000, when Jarno Trulli also qualified second for Jordan. Since 2000 – when both cars qualified in the top four – 2016 and 2018 are the only years that both of the team’s cars have qualified in the top ten.
ALPINE
WINS: 0, POLES: 0, PODIUMS: 1 | 2024 MONACO GRAND PRIX RESULT: GASLY 10th, OCON DNF
Team Enstone have won the Monaco Grand Prix four times. Michael Schumacher was victorious for Benetton in 1994 and 1995, while Jarno Trulli and Fernando Alonso won for Renault in 2004 and 2006 respectively.
The team has recorded a further five podium finishes at the circuit – including a memorable second place for Ayrton Senna and Toleman in 1984. In 2023, Esteban Ocon recorded Alpine’s first podium appearance at the Monaco Grand Prix. It was the first for the Entsone team since Robert Kubica finished third for Renault in 2010.
After colliding with his team-mate on the opening lap in 2024, Esteban Ocon became the first driver for this team to fail to finish the Monaco since 2017. In each of the previous five Monaco Grands Prix, both drivers reached the chequered flag – but at least one of the team’s drivers retired in all ten seasons before that, including with a double DNF in 2016.
With Ocon third and Pierre Gasly seventh, 2023 was the first time since 2006 that both of the team’s cars finished in the points in Monaco.
The Enstone team has recorded three pole positions at the Monaco Grand Prix. Michael Schumacher started from pole in 1994 for Benetton, while Jarno Trulli and Fernando Alonso started from pole in 2004 and 2006 for Renault. The team has recorded a further four front row starts here, the most recent of which was for Robert Kubica in 2010.
In 2022, both Alonso and Esteban Ocon reached Q3, making it the first time since 2012 that both of the Enstone team’s drivers qualified in the top ten at the Monaco Grand Prix. Alpine again recorded a double Q3 appearance in 2023, with Ocon’s fourth place being the team’s best Monaco qualifying result since 2010.
WILLIAMS
WINS: 3, POLES: 7, PODIUMS: 14 | 2024 MONACO GRAND PRIX RESULT: ALBON 9th, SARGEANT 15th
Williams have won the Monaco Grand Prix three times, most recently in 2003 with Juan Pablo Montoya. Nick Heidfeld and Mark Webber’s 2-3 finish for the team in 2005 marks their most recent podium finishes here, as well as only one of two occasions on which both Williams drivers have finished in the top three at the track – the other time being in 1992.
In 2024, Alex Albon’s ninth place finish was the team’s first points-scoring appearance at the Monaco Grand Prix since Felipe Massa’s ninth place in 2017. Despite their low points rate, Williams does have a strong finish rate, with Albon’s 2022 DNF being their only non-finish in the last nine Monaco races.
Williams have taken seven pole positions at the Monaco Grand Prix and locked-out the front row at the circuit in 1992. Albon’s ninth place in qualifying in 2024 marked the team’s first top ten qualification in Monaco since 2012. Before 2012, 1999 was the only other season that neither car qualified in the top ten in the principality.
2006 and 2009 are the only occasions on which both Williams drivers have reached Q3 here, while at least one of their cars has been eliminated in Q1 in eight of the last nine Monaco races. 2019 marked the team’s first double Q1 exit in Monaco as they locked-out the back row of the grid.

While 2019 was the first time that both Toro Rosso drivers finished in the points in Monte Carlo, 2014 is the only season in which neither of the team’s drivers reached the finish line in the principality. Sebastian Vettel recorded the team’s best result here to date, finishing fifth in 2008.
Carlos Sainz recorded Toro Rosso’s best Monaco Grand Prix qualifying position in 2017, with sixth on the grid. That was equalled by Pierre Gasly in 2021, who started fifth following Charles Leclerc’s failure to start.
Toro Rosso failed to reach the final part of qualifying in all of their first seven visits to Monaco. The team has reached Q3 with at least one car in all but one season since 2013, with neither driver progressing past Q2 in 2022.
2008 is the only season in which both Toro Rosso drivers were eliminated in Q1, while Brendon Hartley recorded the team’s first Monaco Q1 exit since 2011 in 2018.
SAUBER
WINS: 0, POLES: 0, PODIUMS: 2 | 2024 MONACO GRAND PRIX RESULT: BOTTAS 13th, ZHOU 16th
The Sauber team have had two podium finishes at the Monaco Grand Prix, with a third place finish for Johnny Herbert in 1996 and second place for Robert Kubica in 2008.
Following two consecutive seasons in which the team recorded double DNFs, Marcus Ericsson reached the finish line in 2018 and both cars finished in 2019. In 2021, the team returned to the points at the Monaco Grand Prix for the first time since Felipe Nasr’s ninth place in 2015, with Antonio Giovinazzi scoring a single point.
Valtteri Bottas finished ninth in the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix, marking only the third time in the last 12 Monaco races that the team picked up points. Neither driver scored in 2023 or 2024.
Robert Kubica recorded the former Sauber team’s best qualifying performance at the Monaco Grand Prix with fifth on the grid in 2008. The team has reached the final part of qualifying on only five occasions at Monaco, including with both cars in 2007. Before that, a Sauber driver had qualified in the top ten on only five occasions since 1993.
Since 2011, Antonio Giovinazzi – in 2021 – is the only one of the team’s drivers to reach Q3 in Monaco. Sergio Perez was the last Sauber driver before him to reach Q3 at the track, in 2011. Perez failed to start the race that year due to a heavy crash in Q3. Charles Leclerc’s Q2 appearance in 2018 was the first time a Sauber driver had made it out of Q1 since 2013.
HAAS
WINS: 0, POLES: 0, PODIUMS: 0 | 2024 MONACO GRAND PRIX RESULT: HULKENBERG DNF, MAGNUSSEN DNF
Haas have scored in two seasons at the Monaco Grand Prix, most recently with a tenth place finish for Romain Grosjean in 2019. 2017 is the only season so far in which Haas have scored points with both cars in the Monaco Grand Prix, with Grosjean finishing eighth and Kevin Magnussen finishing tenth.
Until 2022, the team had never recorded a retirement at the Monaco Grand Prix but both Magnussen and Mick Schumacher failed to finish the 2022 race – with Schumacher crashing out heavily. Magnussen recorded the team’s third DNF at Circuit de Monaco in 2023 and both Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg were out on Lap 1 in 2024.
Haas have reached the final part of qualifying twice at the Monaco Grand Prix. They did so in 2017, when Romain Grosjean qualified in eighth place, and in 2019, when Kevin Magnussen recorded their best qualifying performance yet at the track with sixth place.
In 2018, Magnussen recorded the team’s first Q1 elimination at the track when he could qualify no higher than 19th. Both drivers were out in Q1 in 2021, with Mick Schumacher failing to set a lap time after crashing in Free Practice 3. The team recorded another double Q1 exit in 2023.
