2024 BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX

Finishing ninth in the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso became the first driver to score a point in 20 different Formula 1 seasons.

2024 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso qualified in the top four at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix for the first time since the 2023 Sao Paulo Grand Prix and finished in the top five for the first time since then. Alonso’s fifth place finish made this the 50th Grand Prix in which Aston Martin scored. They are the 26th constructor to score points in 50 races.

2024 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX

At the end of Lap 12 of the 2024 Australian Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso became the first driver to have raced 1,000 laps at Albert Park. Alonso finished the race sixth on the road but a post-race time penalty dropped him to eighth in the final order. Nevertheless, it made Alonso the first driver to score points on 14 occasions at Albert Park, overtaking Kimi Raikkonen’s former record. He also became the first driver to record 15 top ten finishes at the track.

2024 JAPANESE GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso qualified in the top five for the second time this year at the 2024 Japanese Grand Prix, recording a seventh consecutive Q3 appearance. This was Alonso’s first top five qualification at Suzuka since 2014. With fifth place, Alonso recorded the best qualifying result for the Silverstone-based team at Suzuka since Adrian Sutil took fourth place with Force India in qualifying for the 2009 Japanese Grand Prix.

With sixth place in the Grand Prix, Alonso remained in the group of drivers who had scored points in every 2024 race to date. Sergio Perez, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were the only other drivers to have done so. Alonso recorded his best result at Suzuka since finishing fourth in the 2013 Japanese Grand Prix.

Completing every lap of the 2024 Japanese Grand Prix, Alonso moved up to second in the list of most laps raced at Suzuka. He sits 78 laps behind Michael Schumacher at the top of the list. Crossing the finish line at Suzuka for the 15th time, Alonso equalled Jenson Button’s record of most finishes at the Suzuka circuit.

2024 CHINESE GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso became the first driver to race at the Chinese Grand Prix on 16 occasions in 2024. Setting the third fastest time in Q3, Alonso recorded his best qualifying result of the season to date. He qualified in the top ten at the Chinese Grand Prix for the 12th time, equalling Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton for the most top ten qualifications at Shanghai International Circuit. This was Alonso’s first top ten qualification at the Chinese Grand Prix since 2014 and matched his best qualifying result at the track since 2009.

With seventh place in the Grand Prix, Alonso scored points for an eighth consecutive race. Setting the fastest lap of the race, Alonso became only the second driver – after Hamilton – to set the fastest lap of a race at Shanghai International Circuit on multiple occasions. Along with Hamilton, Alonso also equalled Sebastian Vettel’s record of finishing in the top ten 13 times at the track.

2024 MIAMI GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso ended a streak of eight successive Q3 appearances with his first Q2 elimination since last year’s Mexico City Grand Prix. In the race, he equalled his worst result of the season to date with ninth place but scored points for the ninth consecutive Grand Prix. Alonso gained six positions in the 2024 Miami Grand Prix – the most of any driver.

2024 EMILIA ROMAGNA GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso qualified in 19th place for the 2024 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, recording his first back row qualification in a conventional qualifying session since the 2016 Malaysian Grand Prix. This was Alonso’s first Q1 exit since the 2023 United States Grand Prix.

Finishing 19th after his pit lane start, Alonso failed to score points for the first time in 2024. This was Alonso’s first point-less race since retiring from the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix. It was the first time in his Formula 1 career that Alonso finished a race in a position outside of the top 17. He has recorded four 17th place finishes in his career to date.

2024 MONACO GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso became the first driver to make 20 appearances at the Monaco Grand Prix. Prior to the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix, he was tied with Rubens Barrichello on 19 starts at Circuit de Monaco.

Alonso was eliminated in Q1 for a second consecutive race. This was the first time he recorded Q1 exits at two races in a row since the 2018 Japanese and United States Grand Prix weekends. It marked Alonso’s third Q1 exit in the principality, having also exited in Q1 in both 2010 and 2021. Alonso has now failed to reach Q3 at all of the last three events. It’s the first time he’s failed to qualify in the top ten at three races in a row since the 2021 United States, Mexico City and Sao Paulo Grands Prix, as well as the first time he’s missed out on Q3 at three consecutive races since his comeback to F1.

Alonso finished in 11th place, failing to score for a second consecutive race. He last failed to score at two races in a row at the 2023 United States and Mexico City Grands Prix.

2024 CANADIAN GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso made his 19th appearance at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve at the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix – a new record for the most appearances at the track, with Alonso moving clear of Rubens Barrichello and Michael Schumacher at the top of the list.

In qualifying, Alonso reached Q3 for the first time since the Chinese Grand Prix. On Sunday, a sixth place finish for Alonso saw him set a new record for the longest time between first and last points scoring appearances in Formula 1. His latest points come 21 years and 3 months after his first points at the 2003 Australian Grand Prix. He overtakes Michael Schumacher’s record by two weeks. Schumacher’s former record was 21 years, 2 months and 17 days between his first points at the 1991 Italian Grand Prix and his last at the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix.

After the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix, Alonso sits second in the list of drivers who’ve raced the most laps at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. He overtook Kimi Raikkonen’s tally during the race and now sits 50 laps behind Michael Schumacher.

2024 SPANISH GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso was eliminated in Q2 at the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix, qualifying in 11th place. It was the fourth time in 2024 that Alonso did not progress to Q3 – the fourth time it happened in the last five races.

He missed out on a points finish at home but Alonso became the first driver to cross the finish line on 18 occasions at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. He overtook Michael Schumacher as the driver to have finished the most races at the track. 2024 was the first time since 2021 that Alonso failed to score a point at his home race.

2024 AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX

For the first time in his Formula 1 career, Fernando Alonso finished 18th in the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix. Alonso has now recorded at least one finish every position from 1 to 19 at some point during his career. This was the first time since his 2018 DNF that Alonso failed to score a point at the Red Bull Ring.

Alonso recorded the fastest lap at the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix. It was his second fastest lap of the season. It made 2024 the first season since 2013 in which Alonso recorded multiple fastest laps.

2024 BRITISH GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso became the first driver to make 21 F1 appearances at Silverstone at the 2024 British Grand Prix, overtaking Kimi Raikkonen for the most starts at the track. With his eighth place, Alonso scored points for the first time since the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix. Along with Lewis Hamilton, Alonso set a new record for the most finishes at Silverstone. This was the 19th time that both drivers crossed the finish line at the track.

2024 HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso qualified in the top ten at the Hungarian Grand Prix for a 17th time, extending the record for the most top ten qualifying results at the Hungaroring along with Lewis Hamilton.

Finishing 11th, Alonso became the first driver to record 18 Grand Prix finishes in Hungary. This was the first time since 2009 that Alonso failed to score a point in a Hungarian Grand Prix which he has started.

2024 BELGIAN GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso recorded a third consecutive Q3 appearance – his longest streak of Q3 appearances since recording eight in a row between the 2023 Sao Paulo Grand Prix at the 2024 Chinese Grand Prix. His eighth place finish in the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix made this the 16th consecutive season in which the Silverstone-based team has scored a point at Spa. Along with Lewis Hamilton, Alonso became the first driver to make as many as 18 starts at the Belgian Grand Prix.

2024 DUTCH GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso was one of six drivers – along with Lando Norris, Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri, Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez – who maintained his 100% points finishing rates at the Dutch Grand Prix, having now scored at all of the last four Zandvoort races.

2024 ITALIAN GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso qualified 11th for the 2024 Italian Grand Prix. He recorded his fifth Q1 exit at Monza, equalling Daniil Kvyat as the driver with the most Q2 eliminations at the track. This was the first time since the Austrian Grand Prix that Alonso failed to qualify in the top ten.

2024 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX

With eighth place in qualifying for the 2024 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso maintained his record of out-qualifying his team-mate on every appearance to date in Azerbaijan. Alonso finished sixth in the race, recording his first top six result since the Canadian Grand Prix.

2024 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso reached Q3 for the 228th time in his career at the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix. That saw him equal Sebastian Vettel for second on the list of most Q3 appearances since the qualifying system was introduced in 2006. 2013 remains the only time that Alonso has been out-qualified by a team-mate at the Singapore Grand Prix.

Finishing eighth, Alonso scored a point at the Singapore Grand Prix for the first time since 2018.

2024 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso reached Q3 for the 229th time at the 2024 United States Grand Prix. That saw him overtake Sebastian Vettel on the list of most all-time Q3 appearances. Eighth place is Alonso’s best qualifying result at COTA since qualifying sixth for the 2014 United States Grand Prix.

Fernando Alonso finished 13th – his worst result in the last eight races. With Alonso 13th and Lance Stroll 15th, this was the first United States Grand Prix in which the Silverstone-based team did not pick up a point since 2014, when both Force India drivers retired.

2024 MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX

The 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix marked the 400th race weekend which Fernando Alonso has competed in. As a result of his DNSs at the 2001 Belgian Grand Prix, 2005 United States Grand Prix and the 2017 Russian Grand Prix, it was his 397th start.

Alonso recorded his fifth Q2 exit in Mexico City, extending his record for the most Q2 eliminations at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. This was only the second time in the last nine races that Alonso qualified outside of the top ten. 2022 remains the only time that Alonso has reached Q3 in Mexico.

Alonso retired from the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix. It was his fifth retirement in eight appearances at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez – and his third DNF in a row at the track. Alonso recorded his first retirement of the 2024 season. It was the first time he failed to finish since retiring from the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix. Alonso equalled Jo Siffert and Moisés Solana as the driver with the most retirements at this circuit and equalled the record for the most consecutive DNFs at the track. This was the third year in a row that the driver starting 13th in Mexico failed to finish the race.

2024 SAO PAULO GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso crashed out in Q3 and qualified ninth for the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix. With him reaching Q3 and Lewis Hamilton not, Alonso set a new outright record for the most Q3 appearances at Interlagos. This was his 15th Q3 appearance at the track.

Finishing 14th in the race, Alonso failed to score at the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix. This was the first time he failed to score at as many as three races in a row since failing to score at all four races between the 2022 Saudi Arabian and Miami Grands Prix. This was the first time since 2018 that Alonso failed to score at Interlagos.

2024 LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso celebrated his 400th Formula 1 weekend two races ago at the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix – but the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix marked the Spaniard’s 400th Grand Prix start.

Alonso recorded his first Q1 exit since the Monaco Grand Prix in qualifying before finishing the race in 11th. Alonso failed to score a point for the fourth consecutive Grand Prix, making it his longest point-less streak since failing to score at all four races between the 2022 Saudi Arabian and Miami Grands Prix.

2024 QATAR GRAND PRIX

Fernando Alonso celebrated his 400th F1 weekend appearance at the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix – but the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix officially marked his 400th Grand Prix start. Races at which Alonso appeared but did not start are the 2001 Belgian Grand Prix, the 2005 United States Grand Prix and the 2017 Russian Grand Prix. He at least started the formation lap at all three of those events and even took the start at the 2001 Belgian Grand Prix – however, he is classed as a Did Not Start there as he retired before the race was restarted. Under the old regulations, the original start was voided and Alonso never took the ‘actual’ start of the race.

With eighth place, Alonso qualified in the top eight for the first time since the United States Grand Prix. Coming home in seventh place, he scored a point for the first time since the Singapore Grand Prix. This was the first time Alonso finished outside of the top six in Qatar.

2024 ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX

Coming home ninth in the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso scored points at consecutive races for the first time since the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix.
