Haas have revealed the livery with which they will race in the 2021 Formula 1 season.
Haas have unveiled their 2021 livery, which will be raced on the VF21 in the team’s sixth season in Formula 1. The team has a new title sponsor this season – a company part-owned by Russian Dmitry Mazepin, with their new white, red and blue colour scheme being a reflection of that.
2020 Formula 2 champion Mick Schumacher makes his highly-anticipated F1 debut with Haas in 2021. Son of seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher, Mick won the Formula 3 championship in 2018, before stepping up to F2 in 2019 and winning the title in his second season in the series. Nikita Mazepin, who collected nearly enough points for a race ban in F2 in 2020, will be Schumacher’s team-mate.
2020 was not a golden year for Haas, with the team scoring only three points. Romain Grosjean brought home the team’s best result of the year with ninth place at the Eifel Grand Prix, while Kevin Magnussen finished tenth at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The team never qualified above fourteenth position, and regularly recorded double Q1 exits. Both Grosjean and Magnussen announced that they would be departing the team, and the sport, prior to the end of the 2020 season. Grosjean’s season came to an early end with an horrific crash on the opening lap of the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Frenchman was able to escape what remained of his burning car, receiving burns to his hands.
2021 is likely to be another year of struggle for the American outfit, with Gunther Steiner recently admitting that the team will risk dropping further down the competitive order this year by not developing their car. Instead, the team will focus their efforts on their 2022 machinery – but will the gamble pay off?
