Both wins so far in Las Vegas have come from the front row, but two podiums have been recorded from the second half of the grid. Here’s everything you need to know about each grid slot’s history at the Las Vegas Grand Prix!

Facts and stats about Bahrain Grand Prix polesitters

In 2024, George Russell became the first Las Vegas Grand Prix polesitter to win at Las Vegas Strip Circuit, leading all but one lap on his way to victory. In 2023, Charles Leclerc failed to win from pole position. He ran third until the closing stages, when he overtook Sergio Perez for second place.


In 2023, Max Verstappen took victory from second on the grid at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz continued the grid position’s 100% podium finish rate in 2024 but lost one position from where he started and finished third.


There’s yet to be a top seven finish from third on the grid at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. George Russell finished fourth on the road in the inaugural race at Las Vegas Strip Circuit but a five-second penalty for causing a collision dropped him to eighth in the final order. In 2024, Pierre Gasly put in an impressive performance to qualify third but retired in the early stages after suffering an engine failure.


With fourth place in the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc became the first driver to score points at the event having started fourth on the grid. In 2023, Pierre Gasly lost seven places over the course of the race and finished only 11th.


The driver starting fifth at the Las Vegas Grand Prix is yet to gain a position in the race. Max Verstappen became the first driver to score a point having started here in 2024, with a fifth place finish which secured him a fourth successive title victory. One year previously, Alex Albon finished only 12th having started here.


After Logan Sargeant finished only 16th from his career-best sixth on the grid at the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix, Lando Norris finished where he started in 2024, scoring the first points for the driver starting sixth at this track.


There’s yet to be a top eight finish for the driver starting seventh in Las Vegas. Valtteri Bottas finished way down the order and last of the cars still running at the end of the race with a 17th place finish in 2023. Yuki Tsunoda had a better time having started here in 2024. He lost two positions and finished ninth.


In 2024, Oscar Piastri became the first driver to score points from eighth on the grid at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. He finished seventh – six places higher than where Kevin Magnussen finished having started here in the previous season.


Ninth is one of only four grid slots to score points in both runnings of the Las Vegas Grand Prix so far. Fernando Alonso finished ninth from this position in 2023 and Nico Hulkenberg followed that up with an eighth place result in 2024.


Tenth is the furthest back position from which a top two finish has been recorded at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton gained eight places to finish as runner-up to his team-mate in 2024. With Hamilton also having finished seventh after starting here in 2023, tenth on the grid is one of only four positions – along with 1st, 2nd and 9th – to have scored points in both Las Vegas races to date.



The furthest back podium result to date in Las Vegas belongs to 11th on the grid. This is the position from which Sergio Perez finished third in 2023. There was less luck for Esteban Ocon from this position in 2024, who finished a lap down, in 17th place.


Carlos Sainz recorded a top six result having started 12th on the grid in 2023. Those are the only points scored from this position to date. Kevin Magnussen finished where he started in 2024.


13th is the furthest forward grid position which is yet to score a point at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Nico Hulkenberg failed to finish the race having started here in 2023, while Zhou Guanyu failed to make progress and finished 13th having started here in 2024.


Along with 13th, 14th is one of only two grid slots in the top 16 that is yet to record a points finish at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The best result from here so far is 14th, recorded by Daniel Ricciardo in 2023. Liam Lawson finished 16th in 2024.


Lando Norris became the first driver to record a retirement in the Las Vegas Grand Prix when he crashed out in the early stages of the 2023 race having started 15th on the grid. One year later, Sergio Perez became the first driver to score a point from this position, finishing tenth.


The only grid slot lower than 11th to record a top five finish, Esteban Ocon finished fourth having started 16th in 2023. Fernando Alonso missed out on points from this position in 2024, finishing 11th.


No points have come from 17th on the grid to date at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Zhou Guanyu finished 15th having started here in 2023 but that’s the only finish recorded from this position so far. Alex Albon retired at the halfway point of the 2024 race.


Oscar Piastri finished tenth having started 18th at the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix and picked up an additional point for recording the fastest lap of the race. He’s the only driver to score from here so far, with Lance Stroll finishing 15th in 2024.


19th is the furthest back position from which points have been scored so far at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Lance Stroll gained 14 positions and finished fifth having started here in 2023.


Due to a pit lane starter in 2024, there’s only been one start from 20th on the grid in Las Vegas. The position has a 100% non-finish rate, with Yuki Tsunoda retiring in the closing stages of the 2023 race with gearbox troubles.



In 2024, Franco Colapinto became the first driver to start the Las Vegas Grand Prix from the pit lane. He finished the race in 14th place.
