2023 BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX

Lewis Hamilton made his 16th appearance at Bahrain International Circuit at the 2023 Bahrain Grand Prix – one short of Kimi Raikkonen’s record of 17 outings at the track. In the race in which he equalled Daniel Ricciardo as the driver to have made the most starts in a single car number, Hamilton finished in fifth place.

Hamilton’s fifth place marked the first time since 2013, when he also finished fifth, that he failed to finish on the podium at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Nevertheless, that made 2023 the 17th consecutive season in which Hamilton has picked up a point – equalling the record set by Jenson Button in 2016.

2023 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX

Lewis Hamilton made his 183rd appearance in car number 44, setting a new record as the driver to have made the most starts with a single car number. Hamilton finished in fifth place for a second consecutive race.

2023 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX

Lewis Hamilton finished as runner-up in the 2023 Australian Grand Prix, becoming the first Formula 1 driver to finish on the podium in 17 different seasons. Having led five laps of the race, Hamilton also became the first driver to have led a lap in 17 different Formula 1 seasons, breaking the record of 16. Michael Schumacher had held the overall record since 2004.

This was the fifth time in his last six Australian Grand Prix appearances that Hamilton has finished as runner-up. Hamilton became the first driver to record ten podium finishes at the Australian Grand Prix. His second place saw Britain equal Germany as the nation to have had the most podium finishes at Albert Park. Both nations have now had 22 top three finishes at the track.

2023 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX

After maintaining his record of reaching Q3 in every F1 race at Baku City Circuit to date, Lewis Hamilton became the outright record holder as the driver to have completed every racing lap ever held at Baku City Circuit. Along with Sergio Perez, Hamilton equalled Sebastian Vettel as the driver to have scored in Baku on the most occasions.

2023 MIAMI GRAND PRIX

For only the 22nd time in his 315 Grand Prix career, Lewis Hamilton failed to qualify in the top ten. Qualifying 13th, the 2023 Miami Grand Prix marked the first time in Hamilton’s career that he qualified outside of the top six on American soil in his F1 career.

Hamilton gained seven positions over the course of the 2023 Miami Grand Prix. Having started 13th, he finished the race sixth. That saw him record consecutive sixth place finishes for the first time since the 2010 Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix. Hamilton is one of only two drivers who recorded the same result in Miami in both 2022 and 2023. The other is Max Verstappen, who won both races.

2023 MONACO GRAND PRIX

Lewis Hamilton his best Monaco Grand Prix qualifying result and race result since 2019. Making his 14th Q3 appearance at the Monaco Grand Prix, Hamilton moved ahead of Sebastian Vettel in the list of most Q3 appearances at Circuit de Monaco. He also extended his record of most top ten finishes at the event and overtook Sebastian Vettel as the driver to have scored the most points in Monaco Grand Prix history.

Over the course of the race, Hamilton overtook Rubens Barrichello, Kimi Raikkonen and Graham Hill to move up to second on the list of most laps raced at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Hamilton recorded the fastest lap of the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix. It made 2023 the 16th season in which Hamilton has recorded the fastest lap of a race. He equalled Michael Schumacher as the driver who has recorded fastest laps in the most Formula 1 seasons.

2023 SPANISH GRAND PRIX

With fifth place in qualifying for the 2023 Spanish Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton became the first driver to record 15 Q3 appearances at the Spanish Grand Prix. On Sunday, he recorded his 11th podium finish at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, putting him one away from equalling Michael Schumacher’s record of 12 top three finishes at the Spanish Grand Prix.

This was Hamilton’s seventh consecutive trip to the podium on which he finished as runner-up. Hamilton was voted Driver Of The Day for the first time since the 2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

2023 CANADIAN GRAND PRIX

Qualifying in fourth place, Lewis Hamilton maintained his record of qualifying in the top five on every Canadian Grand Prix appearance to date. Hamilton recorded consecutive podium results for the first time in 2023 and, finishing third, equalled Jean Alesi and Eddie Irvine as the driver to have recorded the most third place finishes at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. This was his third time finishing in third place in Canada.

2023 AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX

Along with Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton maintained his 100% Q3 appearance record at the Red Bull Ring. Hamilton still leads the way for most Q3 appearances in Austria. The 2023 Austrian Grand Prix marked his 12th top ten qualification at the venue. On Lap 29 of the 2023 Austrian Grand Prix, Hamilton became the first driver to have raced 800 laps at the Red Bull Ring. In the race, with eighth place, he recorded his worst result of the season to date.

2023 BRITISH GRAND PRIX

Lewis Hamilton recorded his worst British Grand Prix qualifying result since 2012 with sevenht place. Nevertheless, recording his 17th top ten qualification at Silverstone, Hamilton equalled Michael Schumacher as the driver to have recorded the most top ten qualifications at the circuit.

In the race, Hamilton recorded his 14th podium finish at Silverstone, extending his record for the most top three finishes at a single venue. This was his 11th consecutive podium finish at the track. Hamilton recorded the first podium finish for a driver starting seventh at the British Grand Prix since Juan Pablo Montoya, who finished second in 2003. It was the first time since 2017 that a podium finish at Silverstone has come from outside of the top five grid slots. With his points haul from his third place finish, Hamilton became the first driver to have scored 300 points at Silverstone.

2023 HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX

For the first time in almost two years, Lewis Hamilton secured pole position at the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix. Hamilton’s pole was his first since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the 104th pole position of his career. Hamilton ended a 33-race wait for pole position – the longest such wait in his Formula 1 career. He became the first driver to have taken pole position in 16 different seasons and the first driver in Formula 1 history to record nine pole positions at a single venue.

Pole position for Hamilton made 2023 the 20th consecutive season in which a British driver has taken pole. It’s a new record for the most consecutive years in which a nation has secured a pole position, breaking Britain’s own long-standing record of 19 consecutive years with a pole position between 1955 and 1973.

Hamilton finished in fourth place, becoming the first Hungaroring polesitter to fail to finish on the podium since he did so himself in 2015. This was the first time since 2017 that Hamilton did not finish on the Hungarian Grand Prix podium.

2023 BELGIAN GRAND PRIX

Lewis Hamilton made his 322nd Formula 1 start at the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix, equalling Rubens Barrichello as the driver to have started the third-most Formula 1 races. In the race, Hamilton equalled Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel as the driver who has scored in the most Grands Prix at Spa. This was his 12th points-scoring appearance at the circuit. Finishing fourth, the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix marked the first time that Hamilton recorded a result other than a podium or a retirement at Spa since 2007, when he also finished fourth.

2023 DUTCH GRAND PRIX

Lewis Hamilton overtook Rubens Barrichello as the driver to have started the third-most Formula 1 races with his 323rd start at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix. Hamilton lost his 100% Q3 rate at the Dutch Grand Prix, qualifying only 13th for Mercedes. He equalled his worst qualifying result of the 2023 season, having also qualified 13th at the 2023 Miami Grand Prix.

With sixth place in the race, Hamilton gained seven positions over the course of the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix. It equalled the most positions he had gained in a race so far in 2023, having also driven from 13th to sixth at the 2023 Miami Grand Prix. This was the first time Hamilton has gained a position from where he has started at the Dutch Grand Prix. 2023 is the first time Hamilton finished outside of the top four at the Dutch Grand Prix.

2023 ITALIAN GRAND PRIX

Lewis Hamilton became the first driver to record 300 Q3 appearances in Formula 1 at the 2023 Italian Grand Prix. With eighth place in Q3, Hamilton recorded his worst Italian Grand Prix qualifying result since qualifying 12th in 2013. It also marked the Mercedes team’s worst Monza qualifying result since then.

With fifth place in the race, Hamilton scored points at Monza for the 14th time in his career. That saw him equal Michael Schumacher as the driver who has scored on the most occasions at the Italian Grand Prix.

2023 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX

With Sebastian Vettel not on the grid in 2023, Lewis Hamilton became the only driver to have started every Singapore Grand Prix held at Marina Bay Circuit to date. He overtook Vettel as the driver to have completed the most laps at Marina Bay Street Circuit on Lap 35 of the race.

With fifth place in qualifying, Hamilton maintained his record of qualifying in the top five at every Singapore Grand Prix.Finishing third in the race, Hamilton returned to the podium for the first time since the British Grand Prix. This was his fifth podium finish of the season.

Hamilton set the fastest lap of the race for the third time at the Singapore Grand Prix, becoming the first driver to set the fastest lap on three occasions in Singapore.

2023 JAPANESE GRAND PRIX

Lewis Hamilton made his 13th Q3 appearance at Suzuka in qualifying for the 2023 Japanese Grand Prix, overtaking Sebastian Vettel for the most Q3 appearances at the track. With seventh place, Hamilton recorded his worst Japanese Grand Prix qualifying result since 2012, when he qualified ninth. This was the first time in three races that Hamilton out-qualified his team-mate.

On Lap 33 of the 2023 Japanese Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton overtook Kimi Raikkonen as the driver to have raced the second most Grand Prix laps in Formula 1 history. Finishing fifth, Hamilton maintained his record of finishing in the top five on every occasion that he’s crossed the finish line at Suzuka.

2023 QATAR GRAND PRIX

Lewis Hamilton qualified third for the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix, marking his first top three qualification since taking pole position at the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix.

After a Turn 1 collision with his team-mate, Hamilton was out of the race on the first lap. The 2023 Qatar Grand Prix marked Hamilton’s sixth first lap retirement in Formula 1 – his first since the 2022 Belgian Grand Prix. The 2023 Qatar Grand Prix was Hamilton’s first retirement of the 2023 season. He last failed to finish – and failed to score points – at the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

2023 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX

Lewis Hamilton qualified in third place for the 2023 United States Grand Prix. Having also qualified third for the last race, this marked the first time Hamilton qualified in the top three in conventional qualifying at successive races since the end of the 2021 season. Hamilton maintained his record of qualifying in the top five on every appearance at Circuit of The Americas to date.

After his car failed post-race checks, Lewis Hamilton was disqualified from his second place finish in the 2023 United States Grand Prix. This was Hamilton’s second DSQ – his first since the 2009 Australian Grand Prix. Hamilton became the 28th driver to record multiple disqualifications in Formula 1. Daniel Ricciardo is the only other current driver to have done so, having been disqualified at the 2014 Australian Grand Prix and the 2019 Japanese Grand Prix.

Hamilton recorded the first DSQ for the Mercedes team in their history in Formula 1. It was the first DSQ for the Brackley-based team since the 2008 Australian Grand Prix, under their Honda guise, when Rubens Barrichello was black-flagged.

Before being disqualified, Hamilton led six laps of the 2023 United States Grand Prix, meaning that the 2013 race at Circuit of The Americas remains the only race at the venue in which Hamilton did not lead a lap. Hamilton also maintained his record of being the only driver to complete every racing lap held at the Texas track. Sunday’s race saw the total number of Grand Prix laps raced at COTA exceed 600.

His DSQ marked the first time Hamilton failed to score at consecutive races since the 2010 Italian and Singapore Grands Prix.

2023 MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX

Along with Valtteri Bottas, Lewis Hamilton became the first driver to start 200 races with a single car number at the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix. Hamilton qualified sixth for the race, marking the first time that he had qualified outside of the top four at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

For the third year in a row, Hamilton finished as runner-up to Max Verstappen in the Mexico City Grand Prix. Hamilton extended the record for most podiums in Mexico to six. This was Hamilton’s third runner-up finish of the season – his first since the Spanish Grand Prix. Hamilton’s podium marked the 750th podium finish for a British driver in Formula 1.

This was Hamilton’s fourth finish as runner-up in Mexico, overtaking Jack Brabham as the driver with the most second place finishes at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez became the 27th different circuit at which Hamilton has set the fastest lap of the race, extending the record for most venues at which a driver has achieved the feat.

2023 SAO PAULO GRAND PRIX

Qualifying fifth, Lewis Hamilton made the 2023 Sao Paulo Grand Prix the 14th time in 16 appearances at Interlagos that he has qualified in the top five positions. Hamilton finished eighth in the Grand Prix. Of races he’s finished, this was the first time Hamilton finished outside of the top six since the 2023 Austrian Grand Prix, where he also finished eighth. Eighth is Hamilton’s worst result at Interlagos since he finished ninth at the 2013 Brazilian Grand Prix.

2023 LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX

Lewis Hamilton just missed out on Q3 at the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix by 0.028 seconds, qualifying in 11th place. This was Hamilton’s third Q2 exit of the 2023 season and the first time he qualified 11th since the 2010 Australian Grand Prix. Hamilton’s Q2 exit ended a streak of seven consecutive Q3 appearances.

2023 ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX

At the 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton eqaulled Graham Hill as the British driver with the second-longest Formula 1 career. Race day marked 16 years, 8 months and 8 days since Hamilton’s first appearance at the 2007 Australian Grand Prix – the same amount of time between Hill’s first and last appearances at the 1958 Monaco Grand Prix and the 1975 Brazilian Grand Prix.

For the first time in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix history, Lewis Hamilton failed to reach Q3. Hamilton became only the second Mercedes driver to fail to qualify in the top ten at Yas Marina Circuit, after Michael Schumacher who qualified 13th in 2012. Having also failed to reach Q3 at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, this was the first time Hamilton missed out on Q3 at two consecutive races since the 2014 German and Hungarian Grands Prix.

One race after Fernando Alonso became the first driver to finish 300 Grands Prix in their career, Lewis Hamilton reached the same milestone at the 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Hamilton also became the only driver to have started every Formula 1 race held to date at Yas Marina Circuit.

His ninth place finish saw him overtake Sebastian Vettel as the driver to have scored on the most occasions at Yas Marina Circuit. This was Hamilton’s 12th points-scoring visit to the track. During the race, he also overtook Vettel as the driver who has raced the most laps at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Hamilton gained two positions during the 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – the first time he has gained a position from where he started at Yas Marina Circuit since 2017 and the first time he has ever gained multiple positions at the track.
