RACE BY RACE: LIAM LAWSON‘S 2024 F1 SEASON IN STATISTICS
2024 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX
On his return to Formula 1, Liam Lawson finished ninth in the 2024 United States Grand Prix. That saw him equal the best result of his career to date, having last finished ninth at the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix. Lawson’s points made this the ninth time in the last ten COTA races that a driver for the Red Bull junior team has scored a point.
2024 MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX
Liam Lawson was unable to make it through to Q3 at the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix after a crash by his team-mate brought out the red flags and ended the session early. This was the second race in a row at which both RB drivers were eliminated in Q2. Lawson qualified 12th and lost four positions during the race, finishing 16th.
2024 SAO PAULO GRAND PRIX
With fifth place in qualifying, Liam Lawson became the first driver from New Zealand to qualify in the top five since Chris Amon at the 1976 Swedish Grand Prix.
With ninth place in the race, Lawson equalled the best result of his career to date. He also finished ninth at the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix and the 2024 United States Grand Prix. Every time Lawson has scored points, he has done so with a ninth place result.
2024 LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX
With 15th place, Liam Lawson equalled his worst qualifying result of the 2024 season to date at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. He also qualified 15th for the United States Grand Prix.
2024 QATAR GRAND PRIX
In the three Qatar Grand Prix weekends to date, 14 different drivers have exited in Q1. Liam Lawson became the first driver to record multiple Q1 eliminations at the Lusail Circuit. This was his first Q1 exit since last year’s Qatar Grand Prix. Qualifying 17th, Lawson recorded his worst qualifying result of the season so far. He remained yet to out-qualify Yuki Tsunoda in 2024 – and has done so only once in their ten appearances as team-mates to date.
2024 ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX
Coming to a halt on the final lap, Liam Lawson recorded his first retirement in a Grand Prix. Lawson ended the season having not out-qualified team-mate Yuki Tsunoda in any of his his six Grand Prix appearance and having not finished ahead of him in any of their last four appearances.
