RACE BY RACE: LOGAN SARGEANT‘S 2024 F1 SEASON IN STATISTICS

2024 BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX

Logan Sargeant qualified in 18th place for the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix, making this the eighth consecutive race at Bahrain International Circuit at which at least one Williams driver has exited in Q1. On Saturday, Sargeant finished 20th for the third time in his career. He is only the eighth driver to have finished 20th on as many as three occasions in Formula 1.

2024 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX

Logan Sargeant made up four positions from 19th on the grid to 15th at the finish in the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. He also made up four positions in last year’s Jeddah race. With team-mate Alex Albon 11th and Sargeant 15th, this was the first Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in which both Williams drivers crossed the finish line.

2024 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX

Logan Sargeant did not compete in the 2024 Australian Grand Prix. The American took part in the first two practice sessions on Friday but a crash for team-mate Alex Albon in Free Practice 1 and a lack of a spare chassis meant that Williams could field only one car for the rest of the weekend. The team opted to allow Albon to race, putting Sargeant on the sidelines for the qualifying and the race.

2024 JAPANESE GRAND PRIX

With Logan Sargeant qualifying 19th, this was the first time since 2018 that a Williams driver did not set the slowest lap time in qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix.

2024 CHINESE GRAND PRIX

Logan Sargeant set the 20th and slowest lap time in qualifying for the first time in 2024 at the Chinese Grand Prix.

2024 MIAMI GRAND PRIX

With 17th place, Logan Sargeant recorded his best qualifying result since his Q3 appearance at the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix. Sargeant, in his home race, was the only driver to retire from the 2024 Miami Grand Prix. This was his first DNF since the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix. This was the first DNF for a Williams driver in Miami, meaning that only Ferrari, Mercedes, Red Bull and Alpine now hold a 100% finish rate at Miami International Autodrome.

2024 EMILIA ROMAGNA GRAND PRIX

Logan Sargeant’s Q1 lap time was deleted, seeing him qualify 20th for the 2024 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. He continued his record of exiting in Q1 at every race so far this season. Sargeant finished 17th in the race. He has finished 17th in all of the last three races in which he has reached the chequered flag.

2024 MONACO GRAND PRIX

Qualifying 17th for the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix, Logan Sargeant equalled his best qualifying result of the year to date. He also qualified 17th for the Miami Grand Prix.

2024 CANADIAN GRAND PRIX

For the first time in 2024, Logan Sargeant progressed to Q2 at the Canadian Grand Prix. This was the first time he made it out of Q1 since reaching Q3 at the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix. From his 30 qualifying appearances, this was the sixth time that Sargeant made it out of Q1.

Sargeant was the first of five drivers to retire from the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix. He continued to hold a 100% DNF rate at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, having now retired from both of his appearances at the track. He is the 16th driver to make multiple appearances at the track without ever finishing.

2024 SPANISH GRAND PRIX

Logan Sargeant qualified 20th for the third time this year at the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix, having also qualified last at the Chinese and Emilia Romagna Grands Prix. This was the third time in the last six seasons that the two Williams drivers set the two slowest lap times in Q1 at the Spanish Grand Prix – as well as the sixth time in the last seven seasons that both Williams drivers exited in Q1 at Catalunya.

2024 AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX

Logan Sargeant recorded his second consecutive Q1 exit at the Red Bull Ring. He recorded both his worst qualifying and race result at the track to date, qualifying on the back row and finishing 19th, failing to make up any positions in the race. This was the fourth race in a row in which Sargeant failing to gain any places.

2024 BRITISH GRAND PRIX

Logan Sargeant qualified 12th for the 2024 British Grand Prix, recording his best qualifying result of the season to date. This was Sargeant’s second Q2 appearance of the year, after the Canadian Grand Prix.

Sargeant’s 11th place finish in the 2024 British Grand Prix moved him ahead of Valtteri Bottas in the Drivers’ Championship standings. 11th marked Sargeant’s best result since finishing 11th at the 2023 Sao Paulo Grand Prix. He also finished 11th in last year’s British Grand Prix.

2024 HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX

With Alex Albon 13th and Logan Sargeant 14th, this was the first time since 2015 that both Williams drivers qualified in the top 14 at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

2024 BELGIAN GRAND PRIX

Setting the 19th fastest lap time in Q1 at the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix, Logan Sargeant qualified on the back row for the first time since the Austrian Grand Prix. Sargeant finished 17th in the Belgian Grand Prix for the second year in a row. Both times, he gained one position from where he started.

2024 DUTCH GRAND PRIX

Having reached Q3 at Zandvoort in 2023, Logan Sargeant failed to take part in qualifying for the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix. A crash in Free Practice 3 left him unable to set a competitive lap time. Sargeant became only the second Williams driver to be eliminated in Q1 at the Dutch Grand Prix, after Nicholas Latifi in 2022. Sargeant finished the race in 16th on what would prove to be his final appearance in Formula 1.
