Reigning World Champions Mercedes AMG Petronas have launched their 2017 title defender – the W08.
The Brackley-based team, who took the Drivers’ and Constructors’ titles in 2014, 2015 and 2016, unveiled their 2017 car at an event at the Silverstone circuit.
Mercedes’ new aggressive looking W08 features a slightly refreshed livery. The packaging of the car is much tighter than we have seen so far on the other 2017 cars. There is no shark fin at present on the W08, though Mercedes have said that they will test one on the car later today.
Three-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton is joined at the team this year by Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas. He moves from Williams to replace the retired 2016 Champion Nico Rosberg. It was recently announced that James Allison will also be joining the team in place of the departing Paddy Lowe.
“It’s the most detailed piece of machinery I’ve seen so far in Formula One.” – Lewis Hamilton
With Red Bull on an upward trend, and with the chasing pack inching ever closer, will Mercedes be able to be as dominant in 2017?
