Mercedes Reveal 2019 F1 challenger – the W10

Mercedes have unveiled their 2019 F1 challenger – the W10.

Mercedes have revealed the car which they hope will take them to a record-equalling sixth consecutive Constructors’ Championship victory. The team will have a shakedown with the W10 today at the Silverstone circuit ahead of testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya next week.

The team are one of only two to stick with their 2018 driver line-up, retaining the services of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas for a third consecutive year. Last year, Hamilton took eleven victories on his way to a fifth drivers’ title, while Bottas failed to win a race, becoming the first Mercedes to fail to take victory in a season since Michael Schumacher in 2012. The pressure is likely to be on the Finn this year to retain his seat for 2020 – especially with Mercedes’ Esteban Ocon, who is without a drive this year, waiting in the wings. Likewise, Mercedes themselves are likely to be under increased pressure from rivals Ferrari in order to retain their crown for 2019.
