The polesitter is yet to win at the Miami Grand Prix. In all three races to date at Miami International Autodrome, the driver starting on pole (Charles Leclerc in 2022, Sergio Perez in 2023 and Max Verstappen in 2024) has finished as runner-up. It’s one of only two grid slots with a 100% podium finish rate at the track.

The other grid slot with a 100% podium finish rate at the Miami Grand Prix is second. The driver starting here has lost one position in all three races to date at the track, coming home in third place each time.

Max Verstappen won the inaugural Miami Grand Prix from third on the grid. In the last two years, it has been Carlos Sainz who has started third on the grid in Miami. Both times, he’s lost two positions over the course of the race and finished third.

The driver starting fourth is yet to gain a position from where they have started at the Miami Grand Prix. Sergio Perez started and finished fourth in 2022, while Kevin Magnussen – after a superb qualifying performance – lost six positions over the course of the 2023 race to finish tenth. Perez once again started and finished fourth in 2024.

Lando Norris took his maiden F1 victory from fifth on the grid at the 2024 Miami Grand Prix. While this grid position has a 100% points rate in Miami, Norris’ win is the only time that the driver starting here has gained positions in the race.

Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas dropped from fifth to seventh over the course of the 2022 race, while Pierre Gasly dropped three places to finish eighth in 2023.

All of the top six grid slots scored at the Miami Grand Prix in both 2022 and 2023. Only Mercedes drivers filled this grid slot in the first two races: Lewis Hamilton finished where he started in 2022, while George Russell gained two places to finish fourth in 2023.

In 2024, Oscar Piastri stared sixth and lost seven places to finish 13th. He dropped down the order after requiring a front wing change after contact with Carlos Sainz.

Charles Leclerc has recorded the best result to date for the driver starting seventh at the Miami Grand Prix, having finished seventh in 2023. George Russell finished eighth having started here in 2024. The grid slot has had one DNF, for Pierre Gasly in 2022 after a collision with Lando Norris.

Like seventh, there’s been one retirement and two points scoring races from eighth to date at the Miami Grand Prix. Lando Norris retired after his collision with Pierre Gasly in 2022, while Esteban Ocon finished ninth having started here in 2023.

Lewis Hamilton recorded this grid position’s first top six result in the 2024 Miami Grand Prix, gaining two places to finish sixth.

The driver starting ninth scored points for the first time at the Miami Grand Prix in 2023 – by winning the race. Max Verstappen started here and became the first driver to win any Formula 1 race from ninth on the grid since Niki Lauda at the 1984 French Grand Prix.

Verstappen’s win is the only time that the driver starting here has scored a point. In 2022, Yuki Tsunoda finished 12th having started ninth, while Nico Hulkenberg finished 11th in 2024.

Until 2024, 10th was the highest grid position to have not scored points at the Miami Grand Prix. Yuki Tsunoda ended that run with a seventh place finish.

The grid slot was left clear in 2022 due to both Aston Martin drivers starting from the pit lane. Lance Stroll had been set to line up here. In 2023, Valtteri Bottas became the first driver to start the Miami Grand Prix from this position and finished 13th.

11th is the only grid slot in the top 13 that is yet to score a point at the Miami Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso finished where he started in 2022, Alex Albon lost three places to finish 14th in 2023 and Lance Stroll finished only 17th from here in 2024.

12th is the only grid slot outside of the top nine to have scored a top five result at the Miami Grand Prix. George Russell finished fifth having started here in the inaugural 2022 race. Those are the only points scored from 12th so far. Nico Hulkenberg finished 15th in 2023, while Pierre Gasly finished where he started in 2024.

Like 10th, the 13th grid slot was left clear in 2022 as both Aston Martin drivers started from the pit lane. Since then, the position has scored points in both 2023 and 2024.

Lewis Hamilton became the first driver to start from this position in 2023 and brought home a sixth place finish. Esteban Ocon finished tenth in 2024. 13th is the furthest back position from which a top six result has been recorded.

14th has a 100% finish record at the Miami Grand Prix but the position is yet to pick up any points. Daniel Ricciardo finished 13th having started here in 2022, Zhou Guanyu lost two positions over the course of the race and finished 16th in 2023 and Alex Albon finished only 18th from this position in 2024.

At the 2024 Miami Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso became the first driver to score points having started 15th at Miami International Autodrome.

15th on the grid has a 100% finish rate in Miami, with Mick Schumacher finishing where he started in 2022 and Nyck de Vries finishing 18th in 2023.

The driver starting 16th in Miami has been classified 16th twice. Kevin Magnussen’s failure to finish in 2022 – in which he was classified 16th in the final order – is the joint-best result to date from 16th on the grid at the Miami Grand Prix. Valtteri Bottas finished in the same position – and crossed the finish line – in 2024. Lando Norris came home 17th having started here in 2023.

No points have been scored from 17th on the grid yet at the Miami Grand Prix – but Yuki Tsunoda was just over a second from doing so in 2023, finishing 1.4 seconds behind tenth-placed Kevin Magnussen.

Zhou Guanyu failed to finish having started 17th in the 2022 race and Logan Sargeant made this position the first to record two DNFs at the Miami Grand Prix in 2024.

Alex Albon picked up two points with ninth place for Williams at the 2022 Miami Grand Prix. It’s the grid position’s only points-scoring finish to date at the Miami Grand Prix, with Lance Stroll having finished 12th in 2023 and Kevin Magnussen finishing 19th – after receiving a fair share of post-race penalties – in 2024.

The best result recorded from 19th on the grid in Miami is 14th, for Nicholas Latifi in 2022 and Zhou Guanyu in 2024. Oscar Piastri finished where he started in 2023.

Points have been scored from last on the grid in Miami. After being unable to take part in qualifying due to a crash in Free Practice 3, Esteban Ocon started last in 2022 and made up 12 positions to finish eighth. Logan Sargeant finished where he started, in 20th, in 2023, while Daniel Ricciardo finished 15th from this position in 2024.

There have been two pit lane starters so far at the Miami Grand Prix. After a fuel issue, both Aston Martin drivers started from the pit lane in 2022. Lance Stroll picked up a point, finishing 10th, while Sebastian Vettel was a late race retirement following contact with Mick Schumacher.
