Milestones and Records to Beat: 2019 Monaco GP

Mercedes could make history, Max Verstappen could equal the number of career laps of his father and Daniel Ricciardo could reach 1,000 career points. Here are the records which are up for grabs over the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix weekend!

The Milestones and Numbers

This will be the 1003rd Formula 1 Grand Prix, the 77th Monaco Grand Prix and the 66th race at the Circuit de Monaco since F1 began.

The second lap of the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix will be the 5300th racing lap of the track since F1 first visited in 1950.

If Mercedes take a 1-2 finish, it’ll be the first time a team have taken six consecutive 1-2 finishes in Formula 1’s history.

With Lando Norris, Alexander Albon, Antonio Giovinazzi and George Russell joining the grid for 2019, the number of drivers to have competed in a Monaco Grand Prix weekend as a round of the F1 championship will surpass 400, though only 321 of those drivers have actually started a race here.

If Daniel Ricciardo finishes sixth or above, he’ll reach 1,000 points scored in his Formula 1 career.

This weekend marks the 300th Grand Prix entered by Kimi Raikkonen. It will be his 298th start.

If he completes 63 laps of the Monaco Grand Prix, Max Verstappen will surpass his father’s total of laps completed in his F1 career. Jos Verstappen completed 4,497 laps over his 107-race career. Max has completed 4,435 laps in the 86 Grands Prix so far in his career.

The Records to Beat

Should Daniel Ricciardo take pole this weekend, he’ll be only the eleventh driver to have taken pole at Monaco in consecutive seasons, He’d be only the third driver, after Alain Prost and Fernando Alonso, to take pole position here in consecutive years for different teams. If he wins the race, the Australian will become only the ninth driver to take back-to-back wins in Monaco and the only other driver than Alonso to take back-to-back wins at the circuit for different teams. Meanwhile, if Ricciardo scores 17 points, he’ll become only the fifth driver to have scored 100 points at the Monaco Grand Prix. The other drivers to have done so are Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg and Fernando Alonso.

A 1-2 result in qualifying would see Mercedes surpass McLaren’s tally of front row lock-outs.

If Ferrari take pole, it’ll be their eleventh at the track, equalling McLaren’s record tally of Monaco pole positions.

Should Kimi Raikkonen and/or Lewis Hamilton finish the race this weekend, they’ll equal Rubens Barrichello’s record of 13 finishes at the Monaco Grand Prix.

If Lewis Hamilton leads 33 laps of the race, he’ll become only the eighth driver to have led 200 laps of the Monaco Grand Prix.

If a Mercedes-powered car leads 63 laps, they’ll over take Ford Cosworth as the engine manufacturer to have led the most kilometres of the Monaco Grand Prix.

If Lewis Hamilton outscores Sebastian Vettel by 14 points, he’ll become the driver to have scored the most points at the circuit. Vettel, meanwhile, can extend the record himself this weekend.
