2022 Bahrain Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi finished sixteenth in the 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix, making this the first Bahrain race which he has finished since his first F1 appearance at the track for the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix. He qualified slowest of the 20 drivers for the race, just as he did in 2020.
2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi was the first retirement from the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, recording his third DNF in the last five races.
2022 Australian Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi is yet to finish in a position other than 16th so far this year. He finished 16th in the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix and retired from the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. His 16th place at Albert Park is the third time he’s finished 16th from the last four times he’s crossed the finish line.
2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi has finished 16th in every Grand Prix he has completed so far this year. Though neither his team-mate Alex Albon nor Esteban Ocon set a competitive lap time, the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix was the first race of the season at which Latifi did not qualify on the back row of the grid.
2022 Miami Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi qualified on the back row for the fourth time in the last five races. He went on to record his best finish of the season to date with 14th place. He and Mick Schumacher are the only full-time drivers yet to score in 2022.
2022 Spanish Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi qualified on the back row for the fifth time in this year’s six race weekends. This was the first time Latifi qualified last at the Spanish Grand Prix.
2022 Monaco Grand Prix
With Nicholas Latifi finishing 15th, this was Williams’ worst combined Monaco Grand Prix result since their double DNF in 2010.
2022 Azerbaijan Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi was eliminated in Q1 for a 15th consecutive race weekend. He equalled his longest run of successive Q1 eliminations, having also been eliminated in Q1 at all 15 races between the 2020 British Grand Prix and the 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix. In better news for the Canadian, this was the second time in 2022 that he has not qualified on the back row of the grid.
2022 Canadian Grand Prix
With Lance Stroll and Nicholas Latifi both on the grid, this was the first Canadian Grand Prix in which multiple Canadians have lined up on the grid since 1969. It will also be the first Canadian Grand Prix which multiple Canadians have entered since 1981. Latifi qualified 19th, exiting in Q1 for the 16th consecutive race. It is now the longest Q1 exit streak of his career. Latifi moves ahead of Jarno Trulli to eighth in the all-time list of most Q1 eliminations. This was his 43rd Q1 exit in total.
2022 British Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi recorded the first Q3 appearance of his Formula 1 career, qualifying in tenth place. It ended a streak of 16 consecutive Q1 exits for the Canadian driver. Latifi failed to convert his first Q3 appearance into points at the British Grand Prix. He finished 12th, which is his best result of the season to date. His 12th place finish saw him overtake Nico Hulkenberg for 20th in the championship standings.
2022 Austrian Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi made his 50th Grand Prix start at the Austrian Grand Prix. Recording his fifth Q1 exit at the Red Bull Ring, Latifi equalled Kimi Raikkonen as the driver with the most Q1 eliminations at the Austrian circuit. On Sunday, Latifi recorded his first retirement since the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
2022 French Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi qualified in last place for the third time this year. This was the third time in the last four races at Circuit Paul Ricard that a Williams driver has qualified in last place. Latifi retired for a second consecutive race. This is the first time he has recorded successive retirements since the 2021 Bahrain and Emilia Romagna Grands Prix.
2022 Hungarian Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi was fastest in Free Practice 3. He became the first driver to be fastest in Free Practice 3 and go on to qualify 20th or lower since Lewis Hamilton at the 2014 Hungarian Grand Prix. Latifi qualified last for a second consecutive weekend. This was the fourth time he has qualified last in the 2022 season.
2022 Belgian Grand Prix
Despite qualifying 17th, grid penalties for other drivers meant that Nicholas Latifi started the 2022 Belgian Grand Prix from 10th on the grid. The Canadian lost seven positions over the course of the race – the most positions he has lost in a Grand Prix which he has finished.
2022 Dutch Grand Prix
After qualifying last for the third time in the last four races, Nicholas Latifi finished in 18th place for a third consecutive race. Latifi is one of only three drivers to have gained positions from where he started in both the 2021 and 2022 Dutch Grands Prix. Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel are the other drivers to have gained places in both races.
2022 Italian Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi was out-qualified by his new team-mate and recorded his sixth successive Q1 elimination. With 16th place, Latifi recorded his best qualifying result since his Q3 appearance at the 2022 British Grand Prix. Latifi finished 15th in the races – his best result since finishing 12th at the British Grand Prix.
2022 Singapore Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi became only the seventh driver to record 50 Q1 exits. Latifi reached the milestone in record time, doing so on his 56th appearance. The previous record for the fewest number of races in which a driver has reached 50 Q1 eliminations was for Marcus Ericsson, who did so on his 66th appearance.
2022 Japanese Grand Prix
After starting 19th on the grid, Nicholas Latifi scored his first points of the season with ninth place. This was the third time Latifi has scored in his F1 career – the first time he has done so since the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix. Latifi has only ever scored in rain-affected races. His only other points-scoring appearance came at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix. Latifi became the first driver to score a point from 19th on the grid at Suzuka since Martin Brundle, who finished fifth in 1991.
Latifi became one of only two drivers to have scored on every visit to Suzuka. The only other driver to have done so is Cristiano da Matta, who finished seventh on his only start at the circuit with Toyota in 2003.
2022 United States Grand Prix
Maintaining his 100% Q1 exit rate at Circuit of The Americas, Nicholas Latifi qualified in last place for the sixth time in the last eight races.
2022 Mexico City Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi qualified in last place for the fourth race in a row, while team-mate Alex Albon qualified on the back row for only the fourth time this year.
2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi qualified in 16th place, marking the first time he did not qualify last since also qualifying 16th at the Italian Grand Prix. Latifi also finished 16th in the Grand Prix, making this the fifth consecutive visit in which a Williams driver has finished 16th at Interlagos.
2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Nicholas Latifi made his final Formula 1 appearance at the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Latifi made his 61st and final start with Williams this weekend, the tenth most of any driver in the team’s history.
This was the 21st time from the 22 races in 2022 that Latifi was eliminated in Q1. The only time in the last 29 races that the Canadian was not out in Q1 was at the British Grand Prix, where he reached Q3.
For the second consecutive season, Latifi retired from the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
