2021 BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX
Nicholas Latifi pulled into the pits five laps from the end of the race having suffered with a suspected boost leak throughout the race. The Canadian has now recorded three retirements in the last five races.
2021 EMILIA ROMAGNA GRAND PRIX
Nicholas Latifi crashed out on the opening lap of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. It was the first time the Canadian has retired on the first lap during his Formula 1 career. His previous earliest retirement came on Lap 7 of the 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix. This was Latifi’s fourth retirement in the last six races, with him recording consecutive DNFs for the first time.
2021 PORTUGUESE GRAND PRIX
Along with his fellow Canadian Lance Stroll, Nicholas Latifi is one of only two drivers who were out-qualified by their team-mate at both the 2020 and 2021 Portuguese Grands Prix.
2021 SPANISH GRAND PRIX
After qualifying nineteenth for a second successive Spanish Grand Prix outing, Nicholas Latifi finished the race in sixteenth place – his best result since finishing fourteenth in the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix.
2021 MONACO GRAND PRIX
Finishing in fifteenth place on his first appearance at the Monaco Grand Prix, Nicholas Latifi recorded his best result since the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix, where he finished fourteenth.
2021 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX
Nicholas Latifi recorded his second-best qualifying result of 2021 with sixteenth on the grid, and equalled his second-best race result of the year with sixteenth place. It was the second time Latifi has finished in the position he started this season.
2021 FRENCH GRAND PRIX
Nicholas Latifi finished eighteenth in the French Grand Prix. He became only the seventh driver to be classified in eighteenth place on five occasions in his F1 career.
2021 STYRIAN GRAND PRIX
Nicholas Latifi qualified in sixteenth place for a third consecutive race. It was the third time he has qualified sixteenth in his career, and, in the race, he finished in seventeenth place for the third time in his career.
2021 AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX
Finishing in sixteenth place at the Austrian Grand Prix, sixteenth became Nicholas Latifi’s most common race result. This was the fifth time that Latifi has finished in sixteenth place. He was demoted to this position having had 30 seconds added to his race time for not respecting double yellow flags.
2021 BRITISH GRAND PRIX
For a second race weekend in a row, Nicholas Latifi was eliminated in Q1 while his team-mate reached Q3. The last Williams driver to be eliminated in Q1 while their team-mate reached Q3 at two consecutive race weekends was Kazuki Nakajima, at the 2009 European and Belgian Grands Prix.
2021 HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX
Nicholas Latifi recorded the points finish of his Formula 1 career with seventh place. His seventh place is the best result for a Williams driver since Felipe Massa finished seventh at the 2017 Brazilian Grand Prix. Latifi is the first driver to score points having started eighteenth at the Hungarian Grand Prix – but he equals the best result from this grid slot. Martin Donnelly finished seventh for Lotus at the 1990 Hungarian Grand Prix, before a seventh place finish offered points.
2021 BELGIAN GRAND PRIX
Nicholas Latifi picked up a single point for his ninth place finish at the Belgian Grand Prix. It was his second consecutive points-scoring appearance, having also picked up points at the last race in Hungary. With Russell finishing on the podium and having also scored at the last race, this is the first time Williams have scored with both cars at two consecutive races since the 2016 Belgian and Italian Grands Prix.
2021 DUTCH GRAND PRIX
For the first time in his Formula 1 career, Nicholas Latifi reached Q2 at two consecutive races. However, a crash in Q2 meant that the Canadian had to start the race from the pit lane. Along with Sergio Perez, he became the first driver to start a Dutch Grand Prix from the pits.
2021 ITALIAN GRAND PRIX
Nicholas Latifi out-qualified George Russell for the first time. Latifi missed out on points by just under three seconds, finishing in eleventh place. This was the fourth time that Latifi has finished eleventh in his F1 career.
2021 RUSSIAN GRAND PRIX
Nicholas Latifi failed to reach the end of the Russian Grand Prix, but was classified in nineteenth place. This was Latifi’s third retirement of the year – his first since the opening two rounds of the 2021 season.
2021 TURKISH GRAND PRIX
After qualifying seventeenth, Nicholas Latifi moved up to fifteenth on the grid at the Turkish Grand Prix. He finished where he qualified, losing two positions in the race. It’s the first time that Latifi has completed a race in a worse position than where he started since the Stryian Grand Prix.
2021 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX
Nicholas Latifi finished fifteenth in the 2021 United States Grand Prix. It was the first time a Williams driver has finished in fifteenth place at Circuit of The Americas.
2021 MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX
Nicholas Latifi lost four places from where he started at the Mexican Grand Prix. It equals the most positions he’s lost in a race in which he has crossed the finish line. He also fell four places from his starting spot at the 2020 Hungarian Grand Prix.
2021 SAO PAULO GRAND PRIX
For the second time in his Formula 1 career, Nicholas Latifi out-qualified his team-mate. He also out-qualified Jack Aitken at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix.
2021 QATAR GRAND PRIX
Nicholas Latifi was the second retirement from the Qatar Grand Prix. Like Valtteri Bottas – the race’s other retiree – this was his fourth DNF of the year.
2021 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX
Nicholas Latifi finished in twelfth place for the first time in his career. It’s the seventh best result of his F1 career to date.
2021 ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX
Nicholas Latifi out-qualified George Russell in conventional qualifying for only the second time. With both Russell and Nicholas Latifi retiring from the race, this was Williams’ second double retirement of the year. Both drivers also retired from the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
