This was Hulkenberg’s first Q3 appearance in Bahrain since the 2018 Bahrain Grand Prix.
2023 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX
Nico Hulkenberg finished 12th in the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix: the same position in which he finished the 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. 2023 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX
Nico Hulkenberg qualified in 17th place for the 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, qualifying outside of the top 11 for the first time this year. 2023 MIAMI GRAND PRIX

It was his best qualifying result since qualifying third at the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix in 2020 and marked the first time in his ten appearances at the Spanish Grand Prix that he has qualified in the top ten. Lining up seventh on the grid for the 26th time in his career, Hulkenberg equalled Fernando Alonso for the most starts from the seventh grid slot.
2023 CANADIAN GRAND PRIX
Nico Hulkenberg qualified in second place for the 2023 Canadian Grand Prix, which would have been the Haas team’s first front row start for a Grand Prix had Hulkenberg not received a three-place grid penalty for a red flag infringement. This was only the second time in his career, after taking pole at the 2010 Brazilian Grand Prix, that Hulkenberg set one of the two fastest lap times in qualifying.
After starting fifth, Hulkenberg finished the race in 15th place. He lost ten positions over the course of the race – the most places he has ever lost in a Grand Prix which he has completed. This was the first Canadian Grand Prix which Hulkenberg has started since 2013 in which he has failed to score any points.
2023 AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX
Reaching Q3 for a third race in a row at the 2023 Austrian Grand Prix, Nico Hulkenberg qualified in the top ten at three consecutive races for the first time since the 2019 Italian, Singapore and Russian Grands Prix.
Hulkenberg picked up points in the F1 Sprint, recording Haas’ best Sprint result to date with sixth place. On Sunday, he was the only retirement from the Grand Prix. This was Hulkenberg’s first retirement of the season and the first time he retired from a race since the 2019 German Grand Prix.
Hulkenberg recorded the first retirement from eighth on the grid in Austria since Mika Hakkinen retired from the 2001 Austrian Grand Prix.
2023 BRITISH GRAND PRIX
Nico Hulkenberg finished 13th in the 2023 British Grand Prix. Aside from his DNS at the 2020 British Grand Prix, this was the German’s worst-ever result at Silverstone and one of only three occasions on which he has failed to score at the track.
2023 HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX
Qualifying tenth at the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix, Nico Hulkenberg secured the first top ten qualification for Haas at the Hungarian Grand Prix since 2019. This was the first time since 2017 that Hulkenberg reached Q3 at the Hungaroring.

Of his six classified finishes at Suzuka, this was the first time Hulkenberg crossed the finish line in a position outside of the points.
2023 QATAR GRAND PRIX
With 15th place at the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix, Nico Hulkenberg became the first Haas driver to not qualify on the back row at Lusail Circuit. Kevin Magnussen qualified on the back row in 2023, while Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin set the two slowest times in qualifying in 2021.

Hulkenberg made the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix only the second time that a Haas driver made it out of Q1 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. He recorded the team’s best qualifying result to date at the track with 12th place – three positions higher than they have ever qualified before. Despite that, Hulkenberg equalled his worst Mexico qualifying result to date.

With 11th place in qualifying at the 2023 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, Nico Hulkenberg recorded his best Interlagos qualifying result since setting the eighth fastest lap time at the 2017 Brazilian Grand Prix. Finishing 12th, Hulkenberg made this the 11th consecutive race which he has finished in a position outside of the points.
2023 LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX
