The 2020 Turkish Grand Prix will be the third Formula 1 race to have been held on 15th November, after the 1987 Australian Grand Prix and the 2015 Brazilian Grand Prix.
Both previous races held on 15th November have been won from pole, with Gerhard Berger winning for Ferrari at the 1987 Australian Grand Prix and Nico Rosberg winning for Mercedes at the 2015 Brazilian Grand Prix. Both races held on this date have seen the winning team score a 1-2 finish, while Ferrari have had at least one car finish on the podium in both races. Both races have also featured a Brazilian driver being disqualified.
The 1987 Australian Grand Prix saw Stefano Modena make his first race appearance, while Roberto Moreno recorded the first points of his career with a sixth place finish for AGS. Ayrton Senna had originally finished second in the race, but was disqualified as his Lotus had oversized brake ducts. The race also saw the last outing for TAG Porsche engines, which had been used by McLaren.
The 2015 Brazilian Grand Prix was a relatively lacklustre affair, with Nico Rosberg leading home team-mate Lewis Hamilton. It was Rosberg’s 40th podium finish. Meanwhile, Felipe Massa finished eighth, but was later disqualified due to a breach of temperature limits in his tyres. It marked the second time in two years that a driver had been disqualified from their home event, with Daniel Ricciardo having been excluded from the 2014 Australian Grand Prix.
