2022 Bahrain Grand Prix
Pierre Gasly became the second driver to make 75 starts with the Red Bull junior team at the 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix, but it was a race to forget for the Frenchman. Gasly became the 61st different driver to record the first retirement of the year. Gasly’s retirement came 45 laps into the race, which is the longest into the season before a driver has retired. It broke a record which had stood for 65 years, since Peter Collins became the first retirement of the 1957 season 27 laps into the race.
2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
Pierre Gasly recorded his first four points of the 2022 season at the Saudi Arabian Grand with an eighth place finish. That equals his worst start to an F1 season, having also picked up only four points after the first two rounds in 2019 with Red Bull.
2022 Australian Grand Prix
Pierre Gasly scored points at Albert Park for the first time at the 2022 Australian Grand Prix, finishing the race in ninth place.
2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix
Pierre Gasly recorded his first Q1 exit since the 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix. He went on to finish the race in twelfth place.
2022 Miami Grand Prix
With seventh place, Pierre Gasly recorded AlphaTauri’s best qualifying result of the year so far. Gasly failed to finish the race, recording his second retirement of the 2022 season.
2022 Spanish Grand Prix
Pierre Gasly finished 13th, failing to score at the Spanish Grand Prix for the first time since 2018.
2022 Monaco Grand Prix
Pierre Gasly qualified only 17th for the Monaco Grand Prix. This was the first time he failed to reach Q3 at the Monaco Grand Prix. It was his worst qualifying position since his Red Bull debut at the 2019 Australian Grand Prix, where he also qualified 17th.
2022 Azerbaijan Grand Prix
Pierre Gasly had his best weekend of the 2022 season so far, qualifying in sixth place and finishing fifth. It was his first top five result since finishing fifth at the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
2022 Canadian Grand Prix
Pierre Gasly recorded his third Q1 exit of the year, qualifying in 16th. He failed to score points for the sixth time this year, finishing the race in 14th.
2022 British Grand Prix
Retiring on Lap 27, Pierre Gasly was one of five drivers to lose his 100% finishing record at the Silverstone circuit. George Russell, Esteban Ocon, Alex Albon and Valtteri Bottas also retired from a Silverstone race for the first time.
2022 Austrian Grand Prix
Pierre Gasly missed out on reaching Q3 by just 0.009 seconds on Friday at the Austrian Grand Prix. He went on to finish 15th, which is the Frenchman’s worst result in a race which he has finished since the 2020 Styrian Grand Prix, where he also finished 15th.
2022 French Grand Prix
Qualifying in 16th, Pierre Gasly recorded his fourth Q1 exit of the season. Gasly has missed out on Q3 at all of the last four races. This is his longest run of non-Q3 appearances since the four races between the 2019 Belgian and Russian Grands Prix.
2022 Hungarian Grand Prix
Pierre Gasly qualified in 19th, recording his first back row qualification in a conventional qualifying session since the 2018 Australian Grand Prix. This was the first time that Gasly has failed to reach Q3 at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Gasly went on to gain eight places from his pit lane start to 12th. This is the first time Gasly has gained a position from where he started at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
2022 Belgian Grand Prix
On his 100th race start, Pierre Gasly ended the equal-longest point-less streak of his career with a ninth place finish. This was the first time Gasly scored since the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Gasly gained ten positions from his pit lane start over the course of the race. It’s the equal-most places he has gained in a single race. He also gained ten places at the 2018 Mexican Grand Prix.
Gasly maintained his 100% points scoring records at the Spa circuit. Impressively, Gasly became the first driver in F1 history to score on all of his first five appearances at Spa, overtaking a long-standing record held by Alberto Ascari since 1953.
2022 Dutch Grand Prix
On the weekend that he equalled Daniil Kvyat as the driver to have made the most starts with the Red Bull junior team, Pierre Gasly qualified in 11th place and failed to reach Q3 for the seventh race in a row. It is now the longest streak without a Q3 appearance in the Frenchman’s career. With Lance Stroll making it into Q3, Pierre Gasly and Sebastian Vettel are now the drivers to have gone longest without a top ten qualification. The duo last reached Q3 at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Gasly finished outside of the points in 11th place. It marked the sixth time he failed to score in the last seven races.
2022 Italian Grand Prix
On the weekend that Pierre Gasly overtook Daniil Kvyat as the driver to have made the most starts with the Red Bull junior team, the Frenchman reached Q3 for the first time since the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, ending the longest Q3 drought of his career to date. With ninth place, Gasly equalled his team’s best Italian Grand Prix qualifying result in the last nine seasons. The other ninth place for the team in the last nine seasons was recorded by Gasly, in 2018. Gasly finished the race in eighth – his best result since the Baku race.
2022 Singapore Grand Prix
On the fifth anniversary of his maiden F1 appearance, Gasly reached Q3 in Singapore for the first time. On Sunday, Gasly scored at consecutive races for the first time since the Saudi Arabian and Australian Grands Prix. Scoring a single point with a tenth place finish, Gasly became the 50th driver to have scored in 50 Grands Prix.
2022 Japanese Grand Prix
On the weekend that he was confirmed as an Alpine driver for 2023, Pierre Gasly recorded his sixth Q1 exit of the season. It was the first time he was eliminated in Q1 since the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Frenchman equalled his worst Suzuka qualifying result. He also qualified 17th at the track in 2017. In the race, after picking up a penalty for driving too fast under red flag conditions, Gasly finished 18th. This was the third time he’s finished 18th in a race, after the 2018 Chinese Grand Prix and the 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
2022 United States Grand Prix
A fruitless weekend for Pierre Gasly in the United States. With 13th place, he equalled his worst qualifying result at COTA, having previously qualified 13th in 2018. Finishing in 14th, Gasly made this his fourth visit to COTA on which he has failed to score at the circuit.
2022 Mexico City Grand Prix
After failing to reach Q3 in Mexico for the first time since 2018, Pierre Gasly finished11th, marking the first time that the Frenchman failed to pick up points in Mexico since his first appearance at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in 2017.
2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix
Pierre Gasly was eliminated in Q2, failing to reach Q3 in Brazil for the first time since 2017. He finished the race in 14th place, failing to score at Interlagos for the first time since 2018.
2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Pierre Gasly made his final race appearance with the Red Bull junior team before moving to Alpine in 2023. This was his 96th and last race with the team. Gasly was eliminated in Q1 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix for the first time since 2018. It was also the first time since 2018 that a driver for the Red Bull junior team recorded a Q1 exit at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Gasly’s 17th place equalled his worst qualifying result at Yas Marina Circuit. He also qualified 17th at Yas Marina Circuit in 2017 and 2018.
For the third time in the last four races, Pierre Gasly finished 14th.
