RACE BY RACE: PIERRE GASLY’S 2024 F1 SEASON IN STATISTICS

2024 BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX

For the second year in a row, Pierre Gasly qualified in last place for the Bahrain Grand Prix. Unlike in 2023, he was unable to recover to a points-paying position in the race. He finished 18th, failing to score for the fourth time in his last five appearances at the track.

2024 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX

After losing his 100% Q3 appearance rate at Jeddah Corniche Circuit on Friday. Pierre Gasly took the unwanted honour of becoming the first retirement of the season on Saturday, retiring with gearbox issues in the early stages of the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

This is the second time in the last three years that Gasly has recorded the first DNF of the year, having also done so in 2022. He is the ninth driver to record the first retirement of the season on multiple occasions. Gasly recorded his first retirement since the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix.

2024 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly qualified 17th for the 2024 Australian Grand Prix, recording the Enstone team’s first Q1 exit at the Australian Grand Prix since 2017, under the team’s Renault guise. This was the first time Gasly recorded a streak of three consecutive Q1 exits since recording four in a row at the 2017 Mexican, Brazilian, Abu Dhabi and 2018 Australian Grands Prix.

Gasly finished 13th, equalling the team’s best result of the season to date. With Esteban Ocon finishing 16th, the Australian Grand Prix was the first race of the year at which Gasly finished ahead of his team-mate.

2024 JAPANESE GRAND PRIX

Qualifying 17th for the 2024 Japanese Grand Prix, Pierre Gasly was out in Q1 for a fourth consecutive race. It equalled the longest consecutive Q1 exit streak of his career, having also been eliminated at four races in a row between the 2017 Mexican Grand Prix and the 2018 Australian Grand Prix. 17th equalled Gasly’s worst qualifying performance to date at Suzuka. He also qualified 17th for the 2017 and 2022 Japanese Grands Prix.

2024 CHINESE GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly recorded his best qualifying result of the season to date at the Chinese Grand Prix, making it out of Q1 for the first time in 2024.

2024 MIAMI GRAND PRIX

With 12th place, Pierre Gasly recorded his – and Alpine’s – best qualifying result of the season to date. This was the first time Gasly failed to reach Q3 at the Miami Grand Prix. Gasly is one of only three drivers – along with Lando Norris and Alex Albon – who has out-qualified his team-mate at all three Miami Grand Prix weekends to date.

With 12th place, Pierre Gasly recorded his best result of the season so far.

2024 EMILIA ROMAGNA GRAND PRIX

Both Alpine drivers were eliminated in Q2 at the 2024 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, making this the first time that neither of the Enstone team’s drivers reached Q3 at Imola. It was the first time since 2001 that neither of the team’s drivers qualified in the top ten at Imola.

2024 MONACO GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly recorded Alpine’s first Q3 appearance of the season in qualifying for the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix. 2022 remains the only time in his six Monaco Grand Prix appearances that Gasly has failed to qualify in the top ten.

2024 CANADIAN GRAND PRIX

Gasly finished ninth in the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix, recording Alpine’s best result of the season to date. This was the first time Gasly scored points at the Canadian Grand Prix since 2019.

2024 SPANISH GRAND PRIX

For the first time since the 2023 United States Grand Prix, both Alpine drivers appeared in Q3. Both Pierre Gasly and team-mate Esteban Ocon recorded their best qualifying results of the year to date, with seventh and ninth place respectively.

Alpine recorded the exact same result result as they did at the previous race, with Gasly finishing ninth and Ocon tenth. Alpine’s latest points saw them move ahead of Haas in the Constructors’ Championship standings.

2024 AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX

Finishing tenth, Pierre Gasly scored a point for the fourth consecutive race. This is Gasly’s longest scoring streak since the six races between the 2021 Emilia Romagna and French Grands Prix. Gasly’s point made the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix the seventh consecutive Austrian race in which the Enstone-based team scored a point.

2024 BRITISH GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly’s 20th place in qualifying for the 2024 British Grand Prix marked the first time he qualified outside of the top 14 at Silverstone, as well as his first Q1 exit here. Gasly set the slowest qualifying lap time for the second time this year. He also qualified last for the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.

Only 19 cars started the 2024 British Grand Prix. Pierre Gasly recorded the first DNS of the 2024 season, pulling into the pit lane at the end of the formation lap. It ended a streak of four consecutive points-scoring races for the Frenchman as well as 139 consecutive race-starting streak, dating back to the 2017 Mexican Grand Prix.

The 2020 British Grand Prix remains the last time Gasly scored points at Silverstone. 2024 is the third consecutive year in which he failed to finish the British Grand Prix.

2024 HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly set the slowest time in qualifying for the second race weekend in a row at the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix. Gasly was the only driver who failed to finish the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix. This was the second season in a row in which Gasly has retired from the Hungarian Grand Prix.

2024 BELGIAN GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly exited in Q2 at the Belgian Grand Prix for the third year in a row. With 12th place, this was Gasly’s best qualifying result since his seventh place at the Spanish Grand Prix. This was the first time Gasly finished the Belgian Grand Prix in a worse position than where he started.

2024 DUTCH GRAND PRIX

Qualifying tenth for the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix, Pierre Gasly recorded Alpine’s first Q3 appearance at Zandvoort since 2021, when both drivers qualified in the top ten. This was Gasly’s first Q3 appearance since the Spanish Grand Prix.

Gasly secured a ninth place finish for Alpine in the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix, equalling his and his team’s best result of the 2024 season to date. This was the team’s fourth ninth place finish of the season, with Gasly having recorded three of those results.

2024 ITALIAN GRAND PRIX

2024 MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly made his 150th Grand Prix start at the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix. He qualified eighth for the race, reaching Q3 for a second consecutive race. This was the first time he reached Q3 at successive races since the end of the 2023 season. Gasly’s eighth place was the Enstone team’s best qualifying result in Mexico since 2018.

Gasly finished tenth in the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix, recording his – and his team’s – first point in a Grand Prix since he finished ninth at the Dutch Grand Prix. This was the first time that Gasly finished a race in Mexico in a worse position than where he started. His tenth place made this the sixth consecutive Mexican race in which the Enstone-based team scored a point.

2024 SAO PAULO GRAND PRIX

For the third year in a row, Pierre Gasly was out in Q2 at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. He recovered to third in the race, making him the 27th driver to record multiple podium finishes at Interlagos and making Interlagos the first circuit at which he has recorded multiple podium finishes. This was Gasly’s fifth podium finish in total – his first since the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix. All of his last three podium finishes have been third place finishes.

Gasly’s podium marked the first time since 2012 that the driver starting 13th in Brazil scored a point. This was the first podium finish recorded from 13th on the grid since Kimi Raikkonen finished third in the 2013 Singapore Grand Prix.

With team-mate Esteban Ocon also finishing on the podium, the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix marked the first time since the 1997 Spanish Grand Prix that two French drivers finished on the podium.

2024 LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly recorded a career-best qualifying result with third place at the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix. It marked the second time he lined up in the top three on the grid, after the 2021 Qatar Grand Prix. In that race, he moved up to the front row as a result of grid penalties for other drivers. Gasly made the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix the first time since the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix that an Alpine driver qualified in the top three positions. This was Gasly’s third Q3 appearance in the last four races.

Gasly failed to finish the race, recording his first retirement since the Hungarian Grand Prix.

2024 QATAR GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly and Valtteri Bottas both lost their 100% Q3 appearance records at the Qatar Grand Prix, exiting in Q2. Finishing fifth in the race, Gasly gained six places in the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix. He gained the most places of any driver in the race. Both of Gasly’s top five finishes this season came in Grands Prix in which he has started outside of the top ten.

This was the first time Gasly finished the Qatar Grand Prix in a better position than where he started as well as the first time he scored a point in a Grand Prix at the Lusail track.

2024 ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly qualified sixth for the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, recording his second-best qualification of the season. This was Gasly’s fourth Q3 appearance in the last six races.
