A STATISTIC FROM EVERY GRAND PRIX

2021 EMILIA ROMAGNA GRAND PRIX

With fifth place in qualifying, Pierre Gasly made the 2021 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix the fifth consecutive race in which at least one AlphaTauri driver reached Q3. It’s the Red Bull junior team’s longest streak of Q3 appearances since the end of the 2008 season.

2021 PORTUGUESE GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly qualified in ninth place at the Portuguese Grand Prix. He is one of only two drivers to record the same qualifying result in Portugal in 2021 as he did in 2020. Max Verstappen, who qualified third, is the other driver who recorded a repeat Saturday result.

2021 SPANISH GRAND PRIX

Despite picking up a time penalty for overshooting his grid slot, Pierre Gasly recorded a tenth place finish at the Spanish Grand Prix. He started outside the top ten at the event for the first time since 2018.

2021 MONACO GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly maintained his 100% Q3 and points-scoring records at the Monaco Grand Prix. The Frenchman’s sixth place in qualifying equalled the Red Bull junior team’s best ever qualifying result at the Monaco Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz qualified sixth for Toro Rosso in 2017.

2021 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly qualified in fourth place, equalling the best qualifying result of his career. The Frenchman also qualified fourth at the 2019 German Grand Prix and the 2020 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. This was the first time Gasly has reached Q3 at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. On Sunday, Gasly recorded the third podium finish of his career. Finishing in third place, Gasly has now stood on every step of the Formula 1 podium.

2021 FRENCH GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly recorded the Red Bull junior team’s first Q3 appearance at Circuit Paul Ricard, qualifying in sixth place. On Sunday, he recorded the team’s first points at the track with a seventh place finish. Gasly scored for a sixth consecutive race, equalling the longest points-scoring streak of his career to date.

2021 STYRIAN GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly recorded his team’s best-ever Austrian qualifying result with sixth on the grid, but was out on the first lap following contact with Charles Leclerc. His retirement brought an end to his six-race points-scoring streak; the equal longest streak of his career. Gasly’s retirement from sixth on the grid means that fourth is now the only grid slot to score at every Grand Prix in 2021. The Frenchman was the first driver to retire from sixth on the grid at the Red Bull Ring since Kimi Raikkonen in 2002.

2021 AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX

Finishing in ninth place, Pierre Gasly scored for the seventh time this year. He maintained his record of scoring at every race which he has finished so far this season. Only Max Verstappen and Lando Norris can boast the same record.

2021 BRITISH GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly was eliminated in Q2, making this the first time since the Spanish Grand Prix that neither AlphaTauri driver has appeared in the top ten shootout. In Sprint Qualifying, he equalled his worst qualifying result of the season so far, with twelfth place. A late race puncture meant that the Frenchman failed to score in the Grand Prix.

2021 HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly has completed the Hungarian Grand Prix on three of his four appearances – each time doing so with a sixth place result. He finished sixth on the road once again in 2021, but was promoted to fifth following Vettel’s disqualification. Gasly set the fastest lap of the race – the first time he has done so since the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix.

2021 BELGIAN GRAND PRIX

With sixth place, Pierre Gasly maintained his 100% points scoring rate at the Belgian Grand Prix. This was the Frenchman’s best result yet at the circuit – his previous best being eighth place last year. Gasly’s sixth place is the best result at the Belgian Grand Prix for the Red Bull junior team since Sebastian Vettel finished fifth for Toro Rosso in 2008.

2021 DUTCH GRAND PRIX

At the Dutch Grand Prix, Pierre Gasly equalled his best qualifying result of the 2021 season with fourth place. The Frenchman went on to record the sixth top four finish of his Formula 1 career. This marks the first time in his career that Gasly has finished in the top six at three consecutive races. Gasly has finished where he started at all of the last four races.

2021 ITALIAN GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly was the only driver who failed to finish Sprint Qualifying at the Italian Grand Prix. He therefore qualified twentieth – the third back row qualification of his F1 career. He also qualified twentieth at the 2017 Mexican Grand Prix and the 2018 Australian Grand Prix. In the race, Gasly recorded his third retirement of the 2021 season.

2021 RUSSIAN GRAND PRIX

For only the third time in 2021, Pierre Gasly failed to reach the top ten in qualifying for the Russian Grand Prix. Gasly failed to score in the race – failing to score at consecutive races for the first time in 2021. This was the third time in four Russian Grand Prix appearances that Gasly has not scored.

2021 TURKISH GRAND PRIX

After equalling his best ever grid slot with fourth place, Pierre Gasly finished the Turkish Grand Prix in sixth place, recording points at Istanbul Park for the first time. It’s the best ever result for a Red Bull junior team driver in Turkey, and only the second time that the team has scored at the venue. Their other points-scoring appearance came in 2009, when Sebastien Buemi finished ninth for Toro Rosso.

2021 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly was the first retirement from the United States Grand Prix. It’s the fourth time that he has failed to reach the chequered flag in 2021. Gasly has never previously scored at COTA, but this was his first retirement at the venue. Gasly’s retirement was only the second for the Red Bull junior team in Texas. Their only other retirement at the circuit came at the inaugural COTA race in 2012, when Jean-Eric Vergene was out of the race.

2021 MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly qualified fifth for the second time in the last three races. He’s now qualified in the top five on seven occasions in 2021. This was the first time that Gasly has out-qualified his team-mate at the Mexican Grand Prix. Finishing fourth, Gasly recorded his team’s best ever result at the Mexican Grand Prix. The previous best result for the Red Bull junior team here was ninth place, recorded by Max Verstappen in 2015 and Gasly himself in 2019.

2021 SAO PAULO GRAND PRIX

2021 QATAR GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly equalled his best qualifying result of the season with fourth place. Following grid penalties for other drivers, Gasly started from the front row of the grid for the 2021 Qatar Grand Prix, recording his first ever front row start. His previous best grid position was fourth place. Gasly is the first French driver to start from the front row since Romain Grosjean at the 2012 Hungarian Grand Prix. Gasly fell nine places in the race, making this the seventh race of the 2021 season at which he has failed to score. It’s only the third time this year that he has reached the chequered flag without picking up a point.

2021 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX

With sixth place, Pierre Gasly finished in the top six for the eighth time this year. The previous record at the team was seven top six finishes for Sebastian Vettel in 2008.

2021 ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX

Pierre Gasly qualified twelfth, equalling his worst conventional qualifying result of the season. He missed out on Q3 for only the fourth time in 2021, the first time it has happened since the Russian Grand Prix. He recovered to fifth place in the race, recording his fifth top five finish of the season.
