Red Bull have lifted the covers on their first Honda powered F1 car – the RB15.
Red Bull have revealed their 2019 F1 car, the RB15. In an online launch, the team revealed a striking new ‘special edition’ livery – though whether this is to be used throughout the year or just in testing, as was the case with the ‘Camo Bull’ livery in 2015, remains to be seen.
Red Bull head into the unknown in 2019, with their first non-Renault-powered car since 2007. The team won four Drivers’ and Constructors’ titles with Renault, but a lack of relative power in recent years left Red Bull frustrated with being unable to fight for titles with the likes of Mercedes and Ferrari. The team will be powered by Honda for the first time in 2019, joining Toro Rosso as the second team to be powered by the Japanese manufacturer.
In their final season with Renault last year, Red Bull enjoyed their highest tally of victories so far in a single year since the start of the hybrid era, with Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen each taking two victories. Ricciardo heads to pastures new with Renault in 2019, with Verstappen stepping up as the team’s de-facto leader. He’s joined by Pierre Gasly, the 2016 GP2 Champion, who impressed on his first full season in F1 with Toro Rosso last year.
