2022 Bahrain Grand Prix
Sergio Perez recorded his best ever Bahrain qualifying result with fourth on the grid. Things did not go so well in the race, as he retired one lap before the chequered flag. This was the third successive race in which Perez has retired. It’s the first time he has recorded three DNFs in a row during his Formula 1 career.
2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
Sergio Perez became a Formula 1 polesitter at the 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. His first pole came exactly 11 years to the day since his first F1 qualifying appearance at the 2011 Australian Grand Prix. Perez set a new record for the most race appearances before a driver’s first pole position. This was Perez’s 217th race weekend appearance. The previous record was 130 races before pole position for Mark Webber, who recorded his first pole – also with Red Bull – at the 2009 German Grand Prix.
Perez finished fourth, becoming the seventh successive new polesitter to fail to win on their first attempt from pole. Pastor Maldonado remained the last driver to convert their maiden pole into a win. Perez’s twelve points for fourth place saw Mexico become the tenth nation to score 1,000 points in Formula 1, overtaking both the United States and Austria in the process.
2022 Australian Grand Prix
Sergio Perez qualified in third place, recording his first top eight qualifying result at the Australian Grand Prix. In the race, Perez recorded his best-ever Albert Park result with second place. His previous best result at the event was seventh, recorded in 2017. It was also Red Bull’s best result at the track since Sebastian Vettel’s second place in 2012.
2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix
Sergio Perez finished as runner-up to his team-mate at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. It marked Red Bull’s first 1-2 result since the 2016 Malaysian Grand Prix.
2022 Miami Grand Prix
Sergio Perez finished fourth in the Miami Grand Prix, scoring for the fourth time in 2022. This was the fourth time he has finished fourth in the last nine races.
2022 Spanish Grand Prix
Sergio Perez finished as runner-up in the Spanish Grand Prix, recording his best result at the circuit to date. His previous best result here was fourth, recorded in 2017. Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is the 14th track at which he has recorded a podium finish.
2022 Monaco Grand Prix
Sergio Perez won the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix becoming the 36th different driver to win the Monaco Grand Prix in its World Championship history. With his first victory since the 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix and his third win in total, Perez became the most successful Mexican driver in F1, overtaking Pedro Rodriguez’s tally of wins. This was the first time a Mexican driver has won the Monaco Grand Prix. It made Mexico the 17th different nation to have a driver win in the principality. With 25 points for his win, Perez became the 13th driver to have scored 1,000 points in his Formula 1 career.
2022 Azerbaijan Grand Prix
With second place, Sergio Perez set a new record for most podium finishes in Azerbaijan. This was his fourth top three result at Baku City Circuit. Perez became the 51st driver in Formula 1 driver to record 20 top three finishes.
2022 Canadian Grand Prix
It was a weekend to forget for Sergio Perez, who crashed out in Q2 and retired on Sunday. Perez became the first driver to record five Q2 exits at the Canadian Grand Prix. On race day, he became only the third Red Bull driver to retire at the Canadian Grand Prix after David Coulthard in 2007 and Max Verstappen in 2017.
2022 British Grand Prix
Finishing in second place, Sergio Perez finished in the top five at Silverstone for the first time. His previous best British Grand Prix result was sixth place, recorded in 2016. Perez also recorded his best qualifying result at Silverstone, with fourth place. That beat his previous best result of seventh at the circuit, which he recorded in both 2014 and 2017.
2022 Austrian Grand Prix
Sergio Perez was the first retirement from the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix. This was his third DNF of the season and his first retirement in Austria since 2016. Before he retired from the race, Perez surpassed Jarno Trulli as the driver to have raced the tenth most laps in Formula 1 history. Having scored points in the Sprint, Perez overtook Rubens Barrichello for eighth in the all-time list of most race weekends at which a driver has scored points.
2022 French Grand Prix
After recording his best French Grand Prix qualifying result with third place, Sergio Perez finished fourth. This was the first time Perez has finished in a worse position than where he started since the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
2022 Hungarian Grand Prix
Sergio Perez failed to reach Q3 at the Hungarian Grand Prix, qualifying in 11th place. This was the second time in 2022 that Perez has failed to make it into the final part of qualifying. Perez became the first driver to have been eliminated in Q2 on six occasions at the Hungarian Grand Prix. No other driver has had more than four Q2 exits at the Hungaroring.
Perez finished the race in fifth place, making this the first time he has finished in a position outside of the top four positions at any of the last 15 races which he has completed. Despite that, fifth is Perez’s best-ever result at the Hungarian Grand Prix. His previous best result here was seventh, recorded in 2020.
2022 Belgian Grand Prix
Setting the third fastest time, Sergio Perez recorded his best Belgian Grand Prix qualifying result to date, beating his previous best result of fourth in 2018. Before the 2022 Belgian Grand Prix, Perez had never previously finished above fifth place at Spa. This was the first time that Perez has finished a race at this track in the same position as where he started.
2022 Dutch Grand Prix
Sergio Perez started and finished fifth in the Dutch Grand Prix. Having also started where he finished at the previous race, this was the first time in his career that Perez has finished where he started at two successive Grands Prix.
2022 Italian Grand Prix
After qualifying fourth and equalling his best-ever Italian Grand Prix qualifying result, Sergio Perez dropped to 13th on the grid before finishing sixth. That made 2022 the ninth consecutive season in which he has picked up points at the Italian Grand Prix. Perez recorded the best result for a driver starting 13th at the Italian Grand Prix since Alexander Wurz finished fifth in 2000.
2022 Singapore Grand Prix
After securing the fifth front row start of his career and out-qualifying his team-mate for the fourth time this season, Sergio Perez took victory at the 2022 Singapore Grand Prix, becoming the fifth driver to have won at Marina Bay Street Circuit. Perez recorded the fourth victory of his career, becoming the 58th driver to win four or more races in Formula 1. Perez ties with the career win tallies of Dan Gurney, Bruce McLaren and Eddie Irvine. Perez also became the 58th different driver to have led a Grand Prix from start to finish.
2022 is the first season in which Perez has taken multiple Grand Prix wins. Perez became the first driver to win the Singapore Grand Prix having started from second on the grid. This was the first time Perez has finished in the top five in Singapore. His previous best Marina Bay result was fifth place in 2017.
2022 Japanese Grand Prix
Sergio Perez recorded career-best Japanese Grand Prix. His fourth place in qualifying was his first top five Saturday result at Suzuka, while his runner-up spot on Sunday was his first top six result at the venue. This was Perez’s 24th podium finish, equalling the career tallies of Stirling Moss, John Surtees and Alain Jones.
2022 United States Grand Prix
Becoming one of four drivers to reach ten race starts at COTA, Sergio Perez crossed the finish line for the 200th time in his career, finishing in fourth place. He became the eighth driver to have finished 200 races during their F1 career.
2022 Mexico City Grand Prix
Sergio Perez equalled both his best qualifying result (fourth) and race result (third) at his home event, qualifying and completing the Mexico City Grand Prix in the same positions as he did in 2021. sPerez recorded his 25th podium finish, equalling Jacky Ickx for 41st in the all-time list of top three finishes.
2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix
On Friday, Sergio Perez qualified in ninth place – the first time he has qualified outside of the top five since the 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix. He moved up to fifth place in the Sprint. Perez went on to finish the race in seventh place, recording his first non top six result since his retirement from the Austrian Grand Prix. It was the first time Perez finished outside of the top six in a race in which he has reached the chequered flag since his ninth place at the 2021 Russian Grand Prix.
2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Sergio Perez qualified in second place, meaning Red Bull recorded their 25th front row lock-out. This was only the second time the team locked-out the front row in the V6 hybrid era. The last time they did so was at the 2018 Mexican Grand Prix. This was the first time Perez qualified in the top three at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Finishing in third place, Perez recorded his 26th podium finish. That saw him equal Ronnie Peterson and Eddie Irvine for 39th on the all-time list of most podiums. Perez’s podium marked the first time he finished in the top four at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, as well as the first time he finished the Yas Marina race since 2019.
