Your 2018 #MexicoGP Predictions: The Results

Before the 2018 Mexican Grand Prix weekend began, I posted five prediction polls on the Lights Out twitter account. How many of the questions did you get right? Find out below!

1. Who will take pole?

YOUR PREDICTION: LEWIS HAMITLON

CORRECT ANSWER: ANOTHER DRIVER

Only 18% of you predicted that someone other than Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas or Sebastian Vettel would take pole at the Mexican Grand Prix. Red Bull looked to be the team to beat throughout practice as Max Verstappen set the fastest times. In the end, Daniel Ricciardo beat his team-mate to pole by just 0.026 seconds.

2. Will Renault, Haas or Force India score more points?

YOUR PREDICTION: FORCE INDIA

CORRECT ANSWER: RENAULT

Renault were the only one of these three teams to score any points at the 2018 Mexico Grand Prix! Nico Hulkenberg scored the team’s only points with a sixth place finish. Esteban Ocon was Force India’s only finisher, finishing outside the points in eleventh. Meanwhile, Haas struggled all weekend and came home last of the cars still running at the end of the race.

3. Where will Sergio Perez finish?

YOUR PREDICTION: 7TH OR 8TH

CORRECT ANSWER: 11th or lower/ DNF

Just 6% of you thought Sergio Perez would fail to score this weekend. His DNF marked the first time he hasn’t picked up a point at his home event.

4. Which Red Bull driver will qualify better?

YOUR PREDICTION: MAX VERSTAPPEN

CORRECT ANSWER: DANIEL RICCIARDO

74% of you thought Max Verstappen would beat his team-mate in Qualifying this weekend. As it happened, Verstappen was beaten by a team-mate at the track for the first time his career, as Daniel Ricciardo beat him to pole. It was also the first time Ricciardo has out-qualified a team-mate at the track.

5. Will Hamilton win the title?

YOUR PREDICTION: YES

CORRECT ANSWER: YES

All Lewis Hamilton needed to was finish seventh to win the title. He finished fourth, which was more than enough to ensure he’d leave Mexico as only the third driver to have won the World Championship five times in Formula 1’s history.
