Charles Leclerc started from fourteenth on the grid following a ten-place penalty for a power unit change. He made his way through the grid and into the top six, but ultimately retired from the race following a collision with his team-mate. It resulted in the first double DNF for Ferrari since the 2017 Singapore Grand Prix. Just 6% of you predicted that he’d pick up two or less points.

Yes, Pierre Gasly scored more points – but not many of us would have predicted that result! Gasly scored his first podium by finishing as runner-up. It was also the first time that Toro Rosso have scored with both cars at the Brazilian Grand Prix, with Daniil Kvyat finishing in tenth place.

Rain was always forecast to be a feature of the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix weekend. Rain affected the first Practice session, with the wet track conditions limiting running. It stayed dry for the rest of the weekend, however.

In a race which eventually had four retirements, the first retirement didn’t come until Lap 51! Valtteri Bottas was the first to pull over with a smoking car. Then Lance Stroll retired with suspension damage, and the Ferrari drivers collided, leading to their first double DNF since the 2017 Canadian Grand Prix.

Ahead of the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc led the race for third in the Drivers’ Championship by fourteen points. In the Grand Prix, Max Verstappen secured his third win of the season, while Leclerc failed to score. The result saw Verstappen overtake Leclerc in the championship race, and the Dutch driver now holds an eleven point advantage ahead of the season-closing Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
