Your 2019 #FrenchGP Predictions: The Results

Before the 2019 French Grand Prix weekend began, I posted five prediction polls on the Lights Out twitter account. How many of the questions did you get right? Find out below!

1. Where will Pierre Gasly finish?

YOUR PREDICTION: 6th or 7th

CORRECT ANSWER: 8th or lower

Pierre Gasly started a disappointing ninth for his home Grand Prix – and things got more disappointing during the race. For the second time this season, Gasly finished in eleventh place, just outside of the points.

2. Will both Renault drivers score?

YOUR PREDICTION: NO

CORRECT ANSWER: NO (BUT ALSO YES)

A close poll saw you predict that Renault would fail to finish the French Grand Prix with both cars in the points. While Daniel Ricciardo reached Q3 and qualified in eighth, Nico Hulkenberg was eliminated in Q2 and started from thirteenth. Both were able to finish in the top ten in the Grand Prix, with Ricciardo finishing seventh on the road and Hulkenberg picking up two points in ninth place. However, Ricciardo picked up two five-second time penalties after the race, which dropped him out of the points.

3. Who’ll score more points – Mercedes or Ferrari?

YOUR PREDICTION: MERCEDES

CORRECT ANSWER: MERCEDES

No surprises with this one – Mercedes out-scored Ferrari yet again with a sixth 1-2 finish of the year. Lewis Hamilton led team-mate Valtteri Bottas home, while Charles Leclerc finished on the final podium spot. Sebastian Vettel finished fifth and picked up an additional point by setting the fastest lap on his final tour of the circuit. Mercedes scored 43 points while Ferrari picked up 26.

4. Will Haas finish better than they where they start?

YOUR PREDICTION: NO

CORRECT ANSWER: NO

Haas endured another dismal day at the French Grand Prix. Romain Grosjean retired having started from seventeenth, while Kevin Magnussen finished only seventeenth having started from fifteenth on the grid.

5. Will Lance Stroll be eliminated in Q1?

YOUR PREDICTION: YES

CORRECT ANSWER: YES

84% of you predicted that Lance Stroll would be out in Q1, and you were correct. He’s now been eliminated in the first part of qualifying at all of the last twelve races. Team-mate Sergio Perez out-qualified the Canadian by 0.762 seconds in Q1.
