Your 2019 #HungarianGP Predictions: The Results

Before the 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix weekend began, I posted five prediction polls on the Lights Out twitter account. How many of the questions did you get right? Find out below!

1. WHICH TEAM WILL WIN?

YOUR PREDICTION: MERCEDES

CORRECT ANSWER: MERCEDES

Over half of you predicted that Mercedes would return to winning ways at the Hungaroring, and they duly delivered. Lewis Hamilton won the race after a roll of the strategy dice in the later stages of the race.

2. HOW MANY TEAMS WILL SCORE?

YOUR PREDICTION: 6

CORRECT ANSWER: 6

Six different teams scored at the 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix. Renault, Haas, Racing Point and Williams were the teams who failed to pick up a point. Kimi Raikkonen’s seventh place finish sees Alfa Romeo move up to seventh in the Constructors’ Championship.

3. WHICH ALFA ROMEO DRIVER WILL QUALIFY BETTER?

YOUR PREDICTION: KIMI RAIKKONEN

CORRECT ANSWER: KIMI RAIKKONEN

As well as scoring the team’s only points this weekend, it was Kimi Raikkonen who won the qualifying battle at Alfa Romeo. Kimi reached Q3 and qualified in tenth place, while Antonio Giovinazzi qualified fourteenth.

4. WHERE WILL RICCIARDO FINISH?

YOUR PREDICTION: 8TH OR 9TH

CORRECT ANSWER: 12TH OR LOWER

Daniel Ricciardo finished only fourteenth after a bad qualifying session. He was eliminated in Q1 and qualified eighteenth, before a strategic engine penalty dropped him to last on the grid. He failed to make up many positions during the Grand Prix.

5. WHAT WILL THE GAP BETWEEN BOTTAS AND VERSTAPPEN BE?

YOUR PREDICTION: 10-20 POINTS

CORRECT ANSWER: LESS THAN 10 POINTS

Valtteri Bottas failed to deliver at a time when important contract negotiations are taking place. Contact on the first lap necessitated a pit stop, and the Finn could recover only to eighth. With Max Verstappen finishing as runner-up, the gap between the pair in the championship is now just seven points.
