Your 2020 Abu Dhabi GP Predictions: The Results

Before the 2020 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend began, I posted five prediction polls on the Lights Out twitter account. How many of the questions did you get right? Find out below!

1. WHERE WILL HAMILTON FINISH?

YOUR PREDICTION: 1st

CORRECT ANSWER: 2nd or 3rd

Lewis Hamilton returned to action at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix having tested positive for coronavirus two weeks ago. While 80% of you expected him to record a win, Hamilton failed to qualify on the front row for only the second time in 2020. He finished where he started, in third place. It was his fourteenth podium finish of the year.

2. WHERE WILL VETTEL FINISH?

YOUR PREDICTION: 10th or LOWER

CORRECT ANSWER: 10th or LOWER

Sebastian Vettel’s final season with Ferrari has not been easy – and neither was his 2020 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend. He finished his last Ferrari race in fourteenth place. Aside from his two retirements, that’s his worst result of the year.

3. WILL RUSSELL REACH Q2?

YOUR PREDICTION: YES

CORRECT ANSWER: NO

After reaching Q3 when driving for Mercedes at last week’s Sakhir Grand Prix, George Russell returned to Williams for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. He was eliminated in Q1, marking only the second time this year that both Williams drivers have been eliminated in Q1 at two consecutive races.

4. WHICH DRIVER WILL FINISH IN THE BEST POSITION IN THEIR FINAL RACE FOR THEIR TEAM?

YOUR PREDICTION: SERGIO PEREZ

CORRECT ANSWER: CARLOS SAINZ

Of this quartet, 60% of you backed Sakhir Grand Prix race winner Sergio Perez to finish in the best position. Perez was the only retirement from the race. It was Carlos Sainz who finished in the best place, with sixth. Daniel Ricciardo finished seventh, and set the fastest lap, while Sebastian Vettel was only fourteenth.

5. WHAT WILL THE POLE MARGIN BE?

YOUR PREDICTION: BETWEEN 0.051s-0.100s

CORRECT ANSWER: LESS THAN 0.050s

Max Verstappen took pole position by just 0.025 seconds, with the top three separated by only 0.086 seconds. It was the closest qualifying session in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix history.
