Valtteri Bottas has been fastest in all of the last six Free Practice 1 sessions, but he did not get the opportunity to extend that to seven at the Eifel Grand Prix. Weather conditions prevented the session from taking place. Free Practice 3 was the only practice session which went ahead at the Nurburgring and it was Bottas who topped the timesheet.

While no on-track running was held in wet conditions, the weather prevented any running from taking place on Friday. While Saturday was dry, there was a threat of rain during the race; though there were no downpours.

It was a disrupted weekend for Racing Point, with Nico Hulkenberg called in at the last minute to replace the ill Lance Stroll. On the other side of the garage, Sergio Perez finished in fourth position for a second consecutive race. It’s the first time in his career that he has finished in the top five at three consecutive races.
