Your 2020 Russian GP Predictions: The Results

Before the 2020 Russian Grand Prix weekend began, I posted five prediction polls on the Lights Out twitter account. How many of the questions did you get right? Find out below!

1. WILL MERCEDES WIN?

YOUR PREDICTION: YES

CORRECT ANSWER: YES

Mercedes maintained their 100% win record at the Russian Grand Prix, with Valtteri Bottas winning from third on the grid. Polesitter Lewis Hamilton finished third, becoming the first Mercedes driver to stand on the final step of the podium at the Sochi Autodrom.

2. WHERE WILL STROLL FINISH?

YOUR PREDICTION: 6TH OR 7TH

CORRECT ANSWER: 10th or LOWER

Lance Stroll’s car was equipped with Racing Point’s latest updates for the 2020 Russian Grand Prix, but failed to reach Q3 for only the second time this season. Things didn’t improve on Sunday, as the Canadian crashed out on the opening lap. It marked Stroll’s second consecutive DNF.

3. WILL RED BULL FINISH ON THE PODIUM?

YOUR PREDICTION: YES

CORRECT ANSWER: YES

Max Verstappen started from the front row and finished in second place at the 2020 Russian Grand Prix. It’s the first time that a Red Bull driver has finished on the podium at Sochi Autodrom. Alex Albon, who started fifteenth due to a gearbox penalty, finished the race in tenth place.

4. WHERE WILL THE FASTEST McLAREN QUALIFY?

YOUR PREDICTION: 5TH

CORRECT ANSWER: 6TH

The fastest McLaren driver qualified one position lower than the majority predicted. Carlos Sainz was the team’s top qualifier, lining up sixth on the grid. With Lando Norris qualifying eighth, the team recorded the same qualifying result at the 2020 Russian Grand Prix as they did at the 2019 Russian Grand Prix.

5. HOW MANY CARS WILL FINISH?

YOUR PREDICTION: 17 OR 18

CORRECT ANSWER: 17 or 18

There were just two retirements from the 2020 Russian Grand Prix, with both Carlos Sainz and Lance Stroll retiring on the first lap of the race. Ten of the eighteen finishers completed every lap of the race.
